Overview
Administrative/Junior Accounting Associate Jobs in Bardonia, NY at Rifkin & Company, LLP
Start your professional career with a team that invests in you.
If you’re a student, recent graduate, or early-career professional looking for a role where you can build office, client service, and accounting support skills, Rifkin & Company, LLP may be the place for you. We’re looking for an Administrative Staff Member / Junior Accounting Associate who is organized, detail-oriented, and ready to learn in a professional accounting firm environment.
You’ll serve as an important first point of contact for clients and visitors while supporting partners, managers, and staff with administrative and entry-level accounting-related work. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in accuracy, and wants hands-on exposure to the day-to-day operations of a CPA firm.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you’ll build a strong foundation in client service, office operations, and accounting support while gaining exposure to the day-to-day work of a CPA firm.
Over time, this position can provide a pathway toward increased accounting responsibilities and potential growth into a Staff Accountant role.
- Be a friendly, professional first point of contact by answering and directing phone calls, responding to client inquiries, and helping clients feel supported from the start.
- Greet clients and visitors, help prepare the office for meetings, and contribute to a welcoming environment for clients and team members.
- Process tax returns, financial statements, and related client documents while learning how these materials move through a professional accounting firm.
- Assist with routine data entry for accounting records, including accounts payable, billing, and accounts receivable support, while building accuracy, spreadsheet, and accounting-system skills.
- Review billing statements, invoices, and similar documents for accuracy, identify discrepancies, and learn when to escalate questions to supervisory staff.
- Scan, file, photocopy, and organize client correspondence and records with the attention to detail expected in a professional accounting environment.
- Maintain client databases, personnel schedules, and office records so information stays accurate, organized, and easy for the team to use.
- Keep common areas and conference rooms neat, organized, and ready for client meetings and staff collaboration.
- Assist the Director of Administration, partners, and staff with client communication, general administrative duties, and projects that introduce you to the firm’s accounting and client-service work.
- Maintain the confidentiality of client information and firm business transactions, building the professional judgment required in accounting and client-service roles.
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for someone who is ready to learn, contribute, and take ownership of their work. Ideally, you’ll have:
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- A professional, courteous, and helpful approach with clients and team members.
- Comfort entering data accurately into computer systems and software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Excel experience is helpful.
- Basic math skills and interest in accounting, business, or administrative office work.
- Experience with office procedures, customer service, or multi-line phone systems is helpful but not required.
- College degree, coursework, or current studies in Accounting, Business, Finance, Office Administration, or a related field preferred.
- A willingness to ask questions, learn new systems, and take on increasing responsibility.
