Position Summary:
The Chief of Staff is a strategic advisor and trusted partner to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of RUPCO, Inc., a mission-driven nonprofit committed to providing and preserving affordable housing. While not a C-level position, this senior leadership role supports high-level coordination, organizational alignment, and strategic execution across departments. Acting as an extension of the CEO, the Chief of Staff helps translate vision into action by facilitating decision-making, advancing strategic priorities, and ensuring operational excellence at the executive level while working closely with the Executive Assistant to the CEO.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Implementation and Oversight (40%)
Lead execution and tracking of the organization’s multi-year strategic plan.
Partner with department heads to develop implementation timelines, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and progress reporting tools.
Identify and resolve barriers to progress through cross-functional coordination.
Conduct impact assessments and recommend strategic adjustments as needed.
Executive Office Management and Internal Liaison (25%)
Serve as the primary liaison between the CEO and senior leadership, ensuring alignment and progress on organizational priorities.
Prepare the CEO for internal and cross-functional meetings with briefing materials, agendas, and talking points.
Represent the CEO in meetings as needed, capturing outcomes and ensuring timely follow-up.
May supervise or guide support staff or consultants on specific projects
Internal Communications (15%)
Design and implement internal communications strategies that foster transparency and engagement.
Draft leadership updates, organizational announcements, and internal memos.
Collaborating with HR and department leads to ensure consistent messaging.
Project Management and Special Initiatives (10%)
Lead or support high-priority, cross-functional projects assigned by the CEO.
Oversee sensitive initiatives involving growth, restructuring, or culture development.
Support change management efforts throughout the organization.
Organizational Leadership Support (10%)
Coordinate leadership team meetings and retreats, including agenda development and strategic follow-up.
Provide thought partnership and coaching to leadership team members to enhance collaboration.
· Support board preparation by collaborating on content development and strategic framing of materials in coordination with the Executive Assistant.
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in public administration, nonprofit management, business, urban planning, or a related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in nonprofit management, public service, or mission-driven organizations; experience in affordable housing or community development is strongly preferred.
Proven success in strategic planning, project management, and operational leadership.
Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders and maintain discretion with confidential matters.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $95,000.00 – $115,000.00 per year
