Job Overview
The City of Bayfield is seeking to hire a full time City Clerk. The City Clerk plays a vital role in the administration of the city. Some responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing official documents and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, coordinates and performs all election duties as required by Wisconsin Statute, and issues all licenses/permits required by ordinance or statute. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who is capable of managing various administrative tasks while providing excellent support to city officials and the public. The ideal candidate will have municipal government experience, possess strong management skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with the public in a busy, multi-task environment. Duties
– Maintain accurate records of city council meetings, including minutes and agendas
– Manage official documents and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
– Coordinates and performs all election duties as required by Wisconsin Statute
– Assist with the preparation of reports, budgets, and other documentation as needed – Issues all licenses/permits required by ordinance or statute, except as otherwise provided
– Conducts research, develops, revises City ordinances, legal opinions, resolutions, and declarations

Experience
Candidates should have prior experience in municipal, administrative roles or office management. Skills that are beneficial for this position include:
– Certified Clerk (or ability to obtain)
– Municipal Government Experience (preferred) two years’ experience in clerical operations, bookkeeping, policies and legislative functions or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
– Notary Public (or ability to obtain) – Election Administration Certified (or ability to obtain)

This position requires a proactive individual who can handle multiple responsibilities while maintaining a high level of organization and professionalism within the city’s administrative framework.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $29.20 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
