Major Duties
Under general supervision of the Linguistics Chair, the Department Coordinator is responsible to perform and oversee the administrative work of the department of Linguistics as well as the Queer studies, Jewish Studies and MEIS programs. The incumbent provides tracking, reporting, and transaction processing of budget, course schedule, time and labor, facilities, travel, faculty hires, department supplies, and all department activities.
Manages department office; maintains faculty and student files; facilitates full-time faculty search process; tracks faculty entitlements; and reports and reconciles department expenses.
Processes and keeps records of financial and human resources transactions; tracks absences and tracks and enters additional pay into the system; orders office supplies, equipment, and services.
Provides direction and delegates work to office staff and student assistants; and keeps other records as necessary.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Equivalent to five (5) years of full-time, progressively responsible administrative or technical office management experience in an administrative capacity exercising independent judgment and leading the work of others.
Equivalent to full-time college or universityeducation/vocational school training in business or job-related field may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the required experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Thorough mastery of: office methods, procedures, and practices; and correct English grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Expertise in using office software packages, technology, and systems.
Ability and specialized skills to: prepare letters, memos, and reports; transcribe minutes; make travel arrangements; analyze operational and procedural problems and develop, recommend, and evaluate proposed solutions; apply judgment, discretion, and initiative in establishing priorities, providing follow-up andquality control.
Ability to use judgment and discretion to act when precedents do not exist; understand problems from a broader perspective and anticipate the impact of office administration problems and solutions on other areas.
