POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Total Rewards is a newly created role, designed to lead and elevate our compensation, benefits, and recognition strategy across the enterprise. Reporting to the SVP of Human Resources and leading two high-performing team members, this leader will be instrumental in building the infrastructure and strategy to scale Cogir’s people programs with consistency, compliance, and care.

On the benefits side, this leader will serve as the primary architect of Cogir’s employee health, welfare, and wellness offerings, ensuring our plans are competitive, cost-effective, and employee-focused. They’ll partner closely with Finance and Accounting to ensure that billing, reconciliation, and vendor management processes are tightly aligned and well executed.

On the compensation side, this individual will work directly with the SVP of HR to build the foundation of Cogir’s compensation philosophy and framework. From job architecture to merit planning and incentive strategy, this leader will help bring structure, education, and clarity to a growing organization. Success in this role will require thoughtful change management, business acumen, and the ability to effectively translate data and strategy into actionable plans across diverse employee groups.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Total Rewards Strategy: Build and scale Cogir’s total rewards philosophy, designing programs that support attraction, retention, and performance for both frontline and leadership talent.
Compensation Leadership: Develop and implement core compensation practices, including job leveling, salary benchmarking, incentive programs, and executive pay. Partner with the SVP of HR to define the philosophy and train business leaders across the company on pay-for-performance.
Benefits Strategy & Execution: Lead the design, development, and administration of benefits strategies. Partner with brokers, carriers, and internal stakeholders to optimize offerings, manage renewals, drive compliance, and enhance employee experience.
Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate closely with Finance and Accounting to ensure benefits billing, cost modeling, and vendor payment processes are accurate, efficient, and audit-ready.
Merit & Performance Cycles: Own the annual compensation planning calendar, including performance review alignment, merit increases, and bonus planning.
Compliance & Governance: Ensure all programs align with federal and state regulations (e.g., FLSA, ACA, ERISA), and manage leave administration (FMLA, ADA, disability, etc.).
Recognition Programs: Design and evolve employee recognition and service milestone programs that reinforce culture and elevate the employee experience.
HR Systems & Reporting: Leverage data and systems (HRIS, payroll, benefits platforms) to ensure accuracy, visibility, and efficiency in all reward-related processes.
Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and grow a team of two skilled professionals while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
Requirements:

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

A high school diploma is required.
A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field is preferred.

Experience, Competencies, and Skills:

At least eight (8) years of progressive experience in total rewards, with deep exposure to both compensation and benefits.
Demonstrated experience in standing up new compensation practices, including building or revamping salary structures, bonus plans, and market benchmarking from the ground up.
Strong command of benefits program design and vendor management, including collaboration with finance teams on cost modeling and billing reconciliation.
Adept at navigating high-growth, multi-state organizations, ideally in healthcare, senior living, or service-driven industries.
A high level of emotional intelligence and executive presence, which enables you to speak the language of HR, Finance, and Operations.
Proficient in HR systems and tools, you know how to extract insights and automate processes where it matters most.
Resilient, flexible, and mission-driven, you bring urgency, thoughtfulness, and grace under pressure.

Special Requirements:

Must live, or be open to relocating, to the Phoenix Metro area.

Monday to Friday
Hybrid (in-office Scottsdale) with work-from-home flexibility.
