This job interviews, determines donor suitability and collects blood from prospective donors. Performs
quality control
, operates the computer, and completes other administrative and non-administrative duties per instruction of supervisor.
Maintains donor/patient confidentiality.

Education
Required – High School diploma or equivalent
Work Experience
Required – None.
Preferred – 1 year experience in phlebotomy and/or medical assistance procedures
Certifications
Required – Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
Knowledge
Skills and Abilities
(KSAs)
Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
Effective verbal and writtencommunication skillsand the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
Good analytical andproblem solvingskills
Communicationand customer service skills
Job Duties
Perform donor health history confidential interview according to SOP, AABB Standards and FDA Regulations. Perform volunteer, autologous, directed donor and therapeutic phlebotomy collections with the appropriate documentation. Computer entries and/or written documentation are reviewed for accuracy.
Perform donor health screening including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and hemoglobin and hematocrit determinations according to SOP, AABB Standards and FDA Regulations.
Select and prepare an appropriate venipuncture site according to SOP, AABB Standards and FDA Regulations.
