Overview
E-commerce Operations Specialist (Shopify) Jobs in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam at Away /Digital Home/
Title: E-commerce Operations Specialist (Shopify)
Company: Away /Digital Home/
Location: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Role Summary
You are the person who keeps a 950-SKU Shopify Plus store accurate, organized, and working. This is a hands-on operational role, not a strategy role: you will spend your days in the Shopify admin creating and updating products, fixing tag and collection logic, publishing merchandising changes, resolving order problems, and running audits that catch errors before customers do. The best person for this job is the kind who finds a mispriced variant on a Tuesday afternoon because they were checking, not because someone complained.
Key Responsibilities
Catalog and merchandising
- Create and maintain products across the full catalog: titles, descriptions, technical specifications, pricing, variants, options, images, and metafields.
- Own our tag taxonomy. Category and species tags (for example, category-perimeter-fence, species-cattle) drive collection membership and storefront filtering — audit continuously for typos, orphaned tags, missing tags, and misapplied ones.
- Build and maintain manual and automated collections, including rule sets, sort order, and merchandising priority across roughly 40 collections.
- Manage product lifecycle transitions from draft to active to archived, and make sure archived products drop cleanly out of feeds, collections, and internal links.
- Maintain SKU integrity against our internal naming convention and escalate mismatches to operations.
- Execute bulk updates via CSV, Matrixify, or the bulk editor — including seasonal price changes across hundreds of SKUs — without breaking anything.
Inventory and orders
- Monitor inventory levels across locations, correct quantities, and flag low-stock, oversold, and stale-inventory items.
- Process, edit, and troubleshoot orders: address corrections, cancellations, partial refunds, replacements, and re-ships, coordinating with fulfillment.
- Investigate stuck or failed orders, payment holds, tax anomalies, and shipping rate errors, and drive them to resolution.
- Maintain shipping profiles, rate rules, and free-shipping logic as products and freight costs change.
Storefront operations
- Publish and QA storefront content: homepage sections, landing pages, banners, navigation menus, and collection page copy.
- Set up and maintain discount codes, automatic discounts, and promotional pricing for campaigns, then verify stacking behavior at checkout before launch.
- Manage sales channel publication across Online Store, Google & YouTube, Facebook & Instagram, Shop, and Point of Sale, and resolve product feed disapprovals.
- Maintain URL redirects whenever products, collections, or handles change, working with the SEO Specialist so nothing 404s silently.
- Coordinate app installs, evaluations, and removals, and watch for apps that leave orphaned code or slow the theme.
Quality control and reporting
- Run a weekly catalog audit covering missing images, empty or duplicate descriptions, broken links, products absent from their collections, and unintentionally unpublished items.
- Test checkout, shipping rates, and discounts after every significant change. Verify on both desktop and mobile.
- Deliver a weekly written report: what changed, what broke, what needs a decision from us.
- Maintain documentation of recurring processes so the work is transferable and not locked in one person’s head.
Required Skills and Experience
- Shopify depth — at least 3 years administering a live Shopify store, ideally Shopify Plus, with a catalog of 500 or more SKUs.
- Bulk data work — proven skill with CSV import and export, Matrixify or an equivalent tool, and the Shopify bulk editor. You can restructure a thousand rows without corrupting the file.
- Light front-end literacy — able to read and make small edits to Liquid, HTML, and CSS. You do not need to build a theme from scratch; you do need to change a section, fix a broken snippet, and know when to stop and escalate.
- Shopify architecture — working knowledge of metafields, metaobjects, collection rule sets, product taxonomy, and sales channel publication.
