Role Description The Estate Butler is a full-time, on-site role based at Aloita Mentawai in Kepulauan Mentawai, responsible for delivering highly personalized guest service throughout the guest stay. Daily tasks include greeting arrivals, coordinating check-in and check-out, assisting with luggage, and providing information about resort facilities, activities, and island experiences. The Estate Butler anticipates guest needs, arranges dining reservations and special experiences, coordinates with housekeeping and maintenance to ensure villas and common areas are in perfect condition, and facilitates in-room amenities and turn-down service. The role includes managing guest requests, handling any issues with discretion, and working closely with the front office, food and beverage, and activities teams to ensure seamless service. The Estate Butler also supports special events, maintains detailed guest preferences, and upholds resort standards of cleanliness, safety, and privacy at all times.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in luxury hospitality, guest relations, or butler/concierge services, ideally in a resort or remote island setting.
- Strong service mindset with excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to anticipate guest needs, manage multiple requests, and maintain composure in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.
- Fluency in English (spoken and written); additional languages are an advantage.
- High attention to detail in presentation, cleanliness, and service standards.
- Comfort living and working in a remote island environment, with flexibility to work varied hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Professional appearance, discretion, and respect for guest privacy and cultural diversity.
- Basic administrative and organizational skills, including record-keeping of guest preferences and coordination with other departments.
- Previous experience in food and beverage service and knowledge of etiquette and table service is a plus.
- Relevant hospitality training or certification is preferred but not mandatory where strong experience is demonstrated.
