General Summary
Under direct supervision, the External Drug & Alcohol Compliance Assistant provides administrative support to the programs manager in the areas of FTA drug and alcohol compliance auditing, along with clerical assistance with Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) related responsibilities and investigations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provides administrative and clerical support to the Civil Rights & External Drug & Alcohol Compliance Programs Manager.
Types a variety of routine correspondence; proofreads for accuracy.
Maintains records; files material of a confidential nature.
Assists with routine visits to Community Partnership Programs (CPPs) offices, Authority vendors and associated clinics to audit their drug and alcohol testing program and procedures.
Reviews current CPPs’ and vendor drug and alcohol policies and makes recommendations for changes as required to be in FTA compliance.
Prepares written response to CPPs and vendors regarding deficiencies found and provides course of action needed to bring drug and alcohol program into compliance with FTA regulations.
Conducts follow-up calls and/or visits to make sure recommendations are implemented.
Assists new CPPs and vendors in establishing FTA compliant drug and alcohol testing programs.
Keeps current on drug and alcohol program regulatory changes and communicates to CPPs and vendors.
Routinely participates in conference calls or webinars presented by the FTA on how a proper drug and alcohol testing program should be conducted.
Assists CPPs in the preparation of annual FTA MIS reports.
Assists with the monitoring of EEO compliance for the Authority and its contractors.
Confirms EEO paperwork required from CPPs is up-to-date and in compliance.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
High school graduate;
Associate degree preferred.
Three (3) years of administrative experience preferably in a Legal or Public Policy background.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for minimum requirements.
Strong typing skills desired.
Aptitude to learn and implement public policy.
Discretion in handling confidential material.
Tact and diplomacy in dealing with employees, CPPs and the general public.
Proficient in the use of Windows-based MS Word and MS Excel applications.
