The Role
We are hiring a full-time Legal Assistant to support our Associate Attorney and Administrative Appeals Litigation Team. This is a dedicated support role: You will work directly with our team that handles appeals and litigates cases before the Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals (BIIA) and appeals that progress on to Superior Court, and higher courts.
You do not need workers’ compensation experience — we will train you on that. What you do need is solid prior legal experience so you can hit the ground running on the mechanics of litigation work.
What You’ll Do
· Prepare and file pleadings, motions, and related litigation documents
· Manage the discovery process — drafting requests and responses, organizing productions, tracking deadlines
· Handle legal scheduling — depositions, mediations, hearings, and calendaring
· Organize and maintain litigation files (paperless environment)
· Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court/agency staff, and expert witnesses
· Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Associate Attorney
What We’re Looking For
Required:
· Prior legal experience in a law firm setting
· Hands-on experience with pleadings, discovery, legal scheduling, and file organization
· Strong written and verbal communication
· Comfort in a paperless / digital-file environment
· Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing deadlines
· Professional demeanor and a collaborative mindset — you will be joining a tight-knit team
Not required (we’ll train):
· Workers’ compensation law
· Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals (BIIA) practice
