Vance Brothers is seeking a highly organized and proactive HR & Compliance Generalist to manage a wide range of human resources functions while ensuring adherence to all relevant labor laws, safety regulations, and environmental protocols at our Denver, Colorado location. Reporting directly to the HR Director (located in Kansas City, MO), this role will be instrumental in fostering a safe, compliant, and positive work environment. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively while working independently. Proficiency in utilizing HRIS and Learning Management Systems, preferably UKG, will be essential for this role.

Essential Job Functions

Human Resources Generalist Functions (approximately 60%):

Serve as the primary on-site HR point of contact for employees in Denver, addressing inquiries related to policies, procedures, benefits, and employee relations.
Support the full employee lifecycle in Denver, including onboarding and offboarding processes for hew hires and recalls, ensuring smooth transitions and accurate documentation.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HRIS data for the Denver location, ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations, state and Federal labor laws.
Administer employee benefits programs for the Denver team, assisting employees with enrollment, changes, and inquiries, in coordination with the HR Director.
Support employee engagement initiatives and contribute to fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture in Denver.
Assist with the implementation of HR policies and procedures at the Denver site.
Handle routine employee relations matters in Denver, escalating complex issues to the HR Director as needed.

Compliance & Safety (approximately 30%):

Implement and maintain safety policies and procedures for the Denver location in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA) with the Director of Safety and Health.
Conduct regular on-site safety audits of road crews and production areas in the Denver region, identifying potential hazards and recommending corrective actions.
Monitor monthly environmental checks for the Denver operations and ensure compliance with environmental standards.
Support Denver-based supervisors in conducting thorough safety investigations of incidents and near misses, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up.
Utilize the UKG Learning Management System (LMS) to develop, assign, track, and report on safety training and compliance-related courses for Denver employees.
Develop and deliver safety training programs for Denver employees, promoting a culture of safety awareness, utilizing the UKG LMS for delivery and tracking where appropriate.
Maintain safety-related records for the Denver location, including training logs (within UKG LMS and other systems), inspection reports, and incident reports.
Stay up to date on changes in labor laws, safety regulations, and environmental requirements relevant to Colorado, and communicate these changes to relevant stakeholders.
Assist with internal and external compliance audits for the Denver site.

Recruiting (approximately 10%):

Manage the full-cycle recruitment process for various roles at the Denver location, including job posting, sourcing candidates, screening applications, conducting interviews, and extending offers.
Develop and maintain relationships with local Denver-area recruitment agencies and community organizations as needed.
Ensure a positive candidate experience throughout the recruitment process for Denver-based hires.

Qualifications And Education Requirements:

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Safety Management, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive HR Generalist experience with a strong emphasis on compliance and safety.
Proficient in HRIS and LMS systems, preferably UKG.
Experience in developing and implementing safety programs and conducting on-site safety audits helpful, willingness to learn required.
Knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards applicable in Colorado helpful, willingness to learn required.
Familiarity with environmental regulations and monitoring processes relevant to Colorado helpful, willingness to learn required.
Experience with full-cycle recruitment in the Denver metro area.
Strong understanding of HR principles, practices, and Colorado employment laws.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to build rapport with remote leadership and local employees.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities effectively, and be proactive in a remote reporting structure.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
SHRM-CP/SCP or CSP certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements

While the work environment is primarily an office setting, the business operates within an industrial sector.
Involves approximately 90% of the time spent sitting, standing or walking.
Requires the ability to travel to various job sites and conduct walk-through audits for approximately 10% of the time.
