GENERAL DUTIES
The Office of Human Resources at The City College of New York seeks a HR Coordinator – Time and Leave Coordinator to support the Time and Leave unit. This role plays a crucial part in providing consistent, long-term support for timekeeping processes and will help strengthen department workflows through data-driven practices.
Reporting to the Time and Leave Supervisor, the HR Coordinator will assist in managing time and leave functions and contribute to department-wide initiatives that align with CCNY and CUNY’s modernization goals, including the upcoming Workday transition.
Duties include but not limited to:
Supports the Time and Leave Supervisor with workflow improvement initiatives and departmental projects.
Tracks and maintains time and leave records in accordance with CUNY policies for full-time classified employees.
Reviews timesheets for leave usage, overtime, shift differentials, and holiday pay for assigned employee groups and enters leave data into the time and leave system.
Works closely with Benefits, Payroll, and other HR units to troubleshoot and resolve timekeeping issues, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
Serves as a liaison to employees and departments outside of HR by responding to inquiries, investigating discrepancies, and providing guidance on time and leave matters
Assists with the preparation of Compensated Leave (FIS) reports for Central Office and audits related to payroll and timekeeping.
Uses systems such as CUNYfirst, PayServ, and Excel to maintain data accuracy, generate reports, and support team operations.
Regularly reviews, monitors, and analyzes reports from CUNY Central Office to identify trends, flag discrepancies, and recommend improvements in time and leave processing. Provides actionable insights to support data-driven decision-making within the department.
Maintains the clinical calendar, coordinating scheduling and ensuring all routine and required events are processed in alignment with HR policies and timelines.
Plays a pivotal role in the upcoming CUNYWork transition scheduled for 2027, collaborating with relevant departments to ensure a smooth implementation within the Time and Leave unit, including the integration of new systems and processes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree required.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
At least two years of experience working in Human Resources, Payroll, or Time and Leave, preferably in a higher education or public sector setting
Strong working knowledge of CUNYFirst, PayServ, Workday, NYCAPS, or similar HRIS/payroll systems
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including experience with formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis
Experience interpreting collective bargaining agreements and personnel policies related to leave and attendance
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Comfortable working with numbers and able to calculate and troubleshoot timekeeping/payroll data with accuracy.
Strong analytical, research capabilities and written and verbal communication skills
COMPENSATION
Salary Range: $66,507 – $74,837. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 6.09% with additional increases of 3.25% effective 9/1/2025 and 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
