Position Purpose

Working in close collaboration with HR Manager – NC, the Human Resource Generalist performs all human resource services including recruitment and staffing, orientations and benefits administration, employee development and employee relations support, training, safety, and administrative support. This position works collaboratively to best align HR support with the company’s evolving needs and be a positive representative of Select Genetics.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

Select Genetics presents a solid platform to serve customers on a national and international scale by providing quality poults, service, and innovation. Select Genetics is the leading supplier of poults to growers and companies across the world and has operations in eight US States. The HR Generalist provides support for farms, hatchery transportation, and administration employees in Goldsboro, NC. The position reports to the Human Resource Manager – NC.

Full cycle of Recruiting for the Goldsboro Live Operations area (Breeder/Farm and Hatchery Position)
Responsible for the facilitation of entire location employee recruitment process.
Ensures that human resource practices comply with federal and state laws.
Facilitates the orientation and on-boarding of all new employees.
Conducts employee investigations, disciplines, improvement plans, terminations and exit interviews while documenting all processes, in partnership with HR Manger- NC.
Effectively monitors and facilitates salary increases according to company policies for assigned employee base.
In partnership with the NC HR team, helps facilitate benefits enrollment for new hires and for annual open enrollment process.
Conducts and/or facilitates the provision of all mandatory employee trainings.
Supports the administration of loss control and workers’ compensation processes and programs.
Administrative duties such as data entry of benefits and applications.
Cross training of essential duties with other office personnel.
Other duties and projects as assigned by direct supervisor.

Principal Accountabilities
Strong understanding and proven ability to apply HR principles and practices.
Highly preferred ability to speak, write and read Spanish
Strong interpersonal, analytical and judgement skills required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
Proficient in computer-based HR and company systems.
Demonstrate sound ethical decision making.
Ability to model core values as a representative of the Select Genetics.
Ability to provide exceptional customer service with Select Genetics customers, employees and the public.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and the public at all organizational levels.
Ensures confidentiality with Select Genetics and staff members.
Must be self-motivated and well organized with extreme attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Ability to define issues, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business Administration or equivalent SHRM Certification (SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP), is preferred.
Two-year Degree or equivalent required; or 4+ years related HR experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Proficiency with MS Office required.
Proven problem solving and change facilitation abilities.

Additional required skills and abilities include a customer-service orientation; the ability to successfully handle multiple demands simultaneously; strong time management and organizational skills; attention to detail; strong communication skills including verbal, written and listening; the ability to read and interpret company policies and procedures, and applicable federal and state regulations; the ability to communicate and interact productively with all levels of employees, and internal and external customers; the ability to work under pressure; and, the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. The HR Generalist will work collaboratively to best align HR practices with the evolving organization needs and team-oriented structure. This position will be a brand ambassador for Select Genetics unique company culture.
