HR MANAGER/ PAYROLL – CLIENT FACING

We are seeking a Human Resources professional with prior experience as a Human Resources Manager and strong payroll expertise in mid-sized companies who is passionate about business results and delivering a high level of client service.

The client-facing Human Resources Manager serves Growth Operators’ clients by managing the Human Resources function and/or projects for our clients. Services are provided in the form of advisory services (specific projects) and outsourced services (interim or fractional roles with clients). Client relationships are overseen by the Client Relationship Manager, an HR Partner or Managing Director of the company. Work performed by the Human Resources Manager on client engagements may include the following:

Assist with assessment of the client’s current HR function and recommend updates and improvements in areas such as policies, handbooks, and compliance; actively engage with the client to implement those updates and improvements.
Manage the processes and procedures for all day-to-day HR responsibilities, leveraging client resources and/or assigned Growth Operators’ Associate staff, as directed.
Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements, leveraging technology to gain efficiencies.
Perform payroll entries and payroll processing.
Assist with employee performance management, training, and coaching.
Manage the administration of employee benefit programs including benefit plan materials preparation and communication, answering employee questions, building out benefits tiers in HRIS and related platforms, annual and new hire enrollment, benchmarking, and some broker relations.
Assist with HR system assessment, selection, and implementation, to include HRIS, ATS, LMS, etc.
Create, review, and maintain employee handbooks and HR policies.
Communicate effectively with clients’ employees in person, virtually, and in writing.
Maintain knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensure client compliance.

Required Qualifications and Core Competences

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or equivalent
6+ years’ progressive HR experience, which includes a minimum of 1-2 years in a functional HR Manager or HR Business Partner role
Experience processing payroll in ADP, Paylocity, Paychex, or similar platforms is essential.
Ability to identify issues and find solutions through research and utilizing available resources
Prior experience and strong working knowledge of HRIS and ATS software, MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams
Strong analytical thinker with ability to see the big picture
Strong attention to detail with consistent follow-through skills
Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities at once and meet deadlines
Strong decision-making skills with ability to exercise good judgment
Enjoys working with multiple clients in a variety of industries, often simultaneously
Ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative environment with client and internal team
Ability to build rapport and gain trust with stakeholders in short timeframe
Self-directed in their work
Must be able to spend substantial time in the Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN area for onsite client work.

Preferred Experience:

PHR or SHRM-CP
SPHR or SHRM-SCP
Prior engagements in consulting or contract work
Experience working with private equity-backed companies
Background in mergers, acquisitions and integrations

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, hybrid position with some flexibility in work schedule.
FLSA Status: Exempt

Work Environment/ Travel

The work is performed on-site at client locations depending on client needs, remotely from home, and at the Growth Operators office in downtown Minneapolis
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones.
Travel is primarily local during the business day; some out-of-town and overnight travel is likely.
