HR, Sr. Program Manager
The HR Senior Program Manager drives large-scale, strategic HR programs that directly support global business transformation. These cross-functional initiatives span regions, business units, and cultures, ranging from designing and implementing complex HR technologies to reimagining core HR processes and change initiatives. This role requires deep program management expertise, strong business acumen, and the ability to influence without authority in highly matrixed environments.
In this role, you will manage cross-functional, global initiatives from inception to completion, defining scope, gathering requirements, creating detailed project plans, and ensuring successful execution. In addition to strong technical and process knowledge, this person brings experience coaching senior leaders, influencing at the executive level, and collaborating across diverse stakeholder groups to drive lasting organizational impact.
Responsibilities
Lead complex, global HR programs across multiple functions and regions—defining strategy, setting scope, and execution from concept through delivery.
Manage HR program portfolios that require balancing multiple stakeholder needs across global geographies, customizing execution based on cultural and regional nuances.
Partner with senior HR and business leaders to define success metrics, ensure alignment to broader organizational goals, and provide coaching on leadership and HR structures that improve outcomes.
Serve as a key advisor and thought partner to executive stakeholders; facilitate high-stakes conversations with clarity and empathy, leading to informed, strategic decisions.
Drive structured program governance and change management strategies—including communication, stakeholder engagement, and adoption planning—tailored for varying global contexts.
Apply independent judgment and critical thinking to ambiguous problems, using both data and business insight to make informed decisions.
Design HR processes or product features based on user experience and client requirements, using prototyping and testing approaches to validate functionality
Identify risks, dependencies, and opportunities across initiatives, proactively resolving blockers and ensuring long-term solution sustainability.
Monitor and evaluate program outcomes, facilitating retrospectives and continuous improvement efforts that scale and standardize successful practices across the organization.
Actively scan HR trends and business needs; synthesize findings into strategic recommendations that shape future program direction and prioritization.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Expertise in coaching senior leaders on HR and business challenges, including organizational design, leadership development, and program alignment for business impact.
Demonstrated ability to navigate complexity and “gray areas,” driving clarity and progress through collaboration, facilitation, and influence.
Proven success in managing change initiatives within matrixed, multinational organizations, with strong comfort leading in uncertain or evolving environments.
Advanced problem-solving and facilitation skills; frequently called upon to resolve complex issues and mentor peers on cross-functional collaboration.
Deep knowledge of HR operational processes and technologies (e.g., talent, performance, compensation, systems), with an ability to articulate needs in user story formats and translate them into scalable, effective solutions.
Strong understanding of HR technical trends and solution design, with experience reviewing proposals for standardization, optimization, and global fit.
Ability to manage global initiatives across markets and cultures, balancing consistency with regional customization.
Excellent communication skills, including presenting complex topics to senior audiences (e.g., HRLT) and leading sensitive conversations that drive consensus and outcomes.
Qualifications
5–10+ years of experience in HR program management, transformation, or business operations in complex, global environments.
Proven track record of leading HR portfolios and strategic programs with regional customization and global consistency.
Experience driving HR product or process design based on client needs and overseeing development cycles.
Strong influencing skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and engage stakeholders without direct authority.
PMP, PgMP, or equivalent project/program management certification preferred.
Deep familiarity with HR systems, employee lifecycle processes, and enterprise change enablement.
High learning agility, strategic thinking, and self-direction; able to adapt to evolving organizational needs and priorities.
