Summary
The primary function of the Human Resources Assistant is to plan,develop, coordinate and direct the HR function at the hotel to attract, retain,develop and motivate Associates in accordance with all policies and proceduresand all applicable laws and regulations; while limiting liabilities andpromoting a safe, fair and positive work environment for both the LaGuardiaPlaza Hotel, and the Hampton Inn LaGuardia.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plan and manage the recruitment to maintain staffing levels withqualified individuals. Review resumes/applications, schedule interviews, updateapplicant tracker, conduct drug testing, consumer screening and collection ofreferences.
Conduct onboarding of new hires, including new hire onboardingpresentation.
Process new hires and terminations on the payroll and HR platforms.
Assist with benefits enrollment and annual open enrollment.
Responsible for reviewing, processing and approving payroll forboth LaGuardia properties.
Responsible for the timeclock functionality.
Assist with FMLA, PFL andDisability claims.
Assist with all HR internal audits.
Assist with 401K audits and any other compliance audits.
Keep appropriate records of Worker’sCompensation and disability claims.
Maintain all personnel and medical files up to date.
Assist with mandatory training compliance.
Provides support by entering, formatting, and printing information; organizing work; answering the telephone and maintaining filing system.
Facilitate employee relations through variousincentives for both LaGuardia properties
(Quarterly Luncheons, Holiday Contests, Health Fairs, Barbecues etc.).
ProvideAccounting with all forms pertaining to payroll (Change notices, payroll changeforms, W-4’s, term forms, etc.).
Provide Department Managers with employeeinformation as requested.
Provideassistance to all employees by answering questions and addressing concerns.
Special assignments as requested.
Attend mandatory meetings andhotel functions.
Maintain quality service by following organization standards.
Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops.
Comply with all company standardsand policies, as established in the employee handbook.
Other duties as required.
Education and/or Experience
A High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED);Degree in Hospitality or Hotel Management preferred or 2-year relatedexperience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education andexperience. Previous hotel experience preferred, but not required. SHRM enrollment preferred.
Language Skills
The ability to: listen, read, write, and speak, bothclearly, and effectively ensures that the lines of communication are openbetween the Associates and guests at the hotel; and is absolutely essential.Customer service is our priority, so it is imperative that all Associatescommunicate to the best of their ability.
Mathematical Skills
The ability to perform basic mathematical functions:adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing, using whole numbers, commonfractions, and decimals; along with the ability to compute rate, ratio, percentand interpret bar graphs.

Work Environment andReasoning Ability
The ability to apply the use of common sense andunderstanding in order to carry out instructions, whether in written, oral ordiagram form. The ability to work in close proximity with others comfortably,while multitasking in a fast-paced environment. Conflict resolution skills.
Appearance andPerformance Expectations
All Associates are responsible for following the companystandards of appearance, which is a major part of all performance appraisals.Expectations of performance will be explained and assessed by both HumanResources and Management.
