Position Summary:
Reporting to the HR Director (HRD) the Human Resources Assistant is responsible for preparing and processing SONC’s semi-monthly payroll, 403b administration & reconciliation, onboarding new hires, offboarding staff, leading mandatory staff training, benefits administration, department and staff support, data entry, and administrative duties.
This is an in-office position, schedule is Monday – Friday from 9 AM – 1 PM (20 hour workweek).

Responsibilities/ Essential Job Functions:
HR Administration:
Provide pleasant, prompt, and thorough customer service regarding HR/ payroll questions and inquiries for 60+ employees.
In partnership with the HRD and hiring managers, oversee the onboarding of employees, including conducting new hire orientations (for payroll), creating and maintaining personnel files, and ensuring new hire tasks get completed in a timely manner.
Train newly hired and newly promoted managers on the Time & Attendance and Time Off apps in SONC’s HR Information System (HRIS), Rippling.
Assign new hires Sexual Harassment Prevention (SHP) and Mandated Reporter training via online platform, send reminders to staff to ensure that training is completed on time, and retain certificates of completion in personnel files.
Build rapport and trust with staff by engaging with them on a regular basis (in person in the Pleasant Hill office and virtually with the other offices).
Maintain strict confidentiality for all HR & payroll information.
Other duties as assigned.
Payroll:
Prepare and process semi-monthly payroll via Rippling HRIS; resolves payroll discrepancies by gathering and analyzing information, save and send reports.
Send reminders to staff and managers to ensure that all time sheets and paid time off (PTO) requests are approved in a timely manner.
Perform regular audits of the payroll system and associated transactions (403b retirement plan administration, benefits deductions, etc.)
Regularly interact with benefits brokers and Rippling Support Center to reconcile monthly benefits invoices and related transactions as well as get general support for any HR or payroll inquiries.
Assist Finance team with annual leave balance reconciliation.
Support HR department with performance reviews (annual and mid-year), including processing pay adjustments (only for annual performance reviews), bonuses, and retro pays (as/ if needed).
In partnership with the HRD, oversee the offboarding of employees, including preparing final paperwork and processing checks for final pay and time off balances.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills, & Experience:
High school diploma required, bachelor’s degree highly preferred.
2-3 years of experience in an HR Assistant or similar position.
Minimum 1-2 years of experience working with an HRIS system or online benefits system, including familiarity with processing payroll online.
Beginner to intermediate human resources and payroll knowledge.
Intermediate computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office products such Excel and Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Concur, etc.
Demonstrated experience working with confidential information and interacting with company personnel in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Possess the following attributes: Outgoing and proactive attitude, attention to detail, thorough and efficient, stellar organization skills, intermediate data entry skills, report creation skills, excellent verbal and written communication.

The pay range for this role is:
29 – 30 USD per hour(Pleasant Hill)
