Mindak Commercial Construction is a fast-growing, non-union wood framing company specializing in multifamily housing and other commercial construction throughout the Midwest. As a company operating on the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS), we prioritize clarity, accountability, and vision alignment across all teams. We’re seeking a seasoned HR professional to take ownership of HR strategy, compliance, and people systems to support our growing field and office teams.

Key Responsibilities

This role is expected to grow into a key leadership team position. For the right candidate, there is a clear path to joining our executive team and helping shape company-wide strategy.

Human Resources Leadership
Serve as the lead HR contact for employees and leadership
Oversee full-cycle recruiting and hiring: job postings, applicant tracking, and interviews
Lead onboarding, orientation, and training for new employees
Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and documentation standards
Manage and administer health, dental, vision, HSA, 401(k), PTO, and leave policies
Ensure organizational compliance with federal and state labor regulations
Conduct and document performance reviews, corrective actions, and terminations
Create and deliver employee and subcontractor training programs
Support leadership with workforce planning and strategic HR initiatives
PayrollJob Cost Reporting
Oversee and ensure accuracy of weekly payroll processing
Maintain and audit payroll records including benefits and deductions
Reconcile payroll data with job cost reports to support financial accuracy
Respond to payroll-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies
Support annual reporting including W-2s and ACA compliance
Generate strategic payroll reports for executive review
VendorAccounting Coordination
Assist in managing subcontractor documentation including W-9s, COIs, and contract records
Support processing of vendor invoices and subcontractor payments
Track employee expense reports and ensure proper coding
Coordinate lien waivers and documentation compliance for projects
Support the CFO with HR-related components of monthly financial close
Qualifications
5+ years of progressive HR experience, with leadership responsibilities
Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field
Strong knowledge of employment laws and payroll systems
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or higher) strongly preferred
Familiarity with the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) is a plus, but not required.
