Position Overview:
This is a hands-on position and will require that the individual be responsible for executing human resource related activities for the company and contributing to its growth and ongoing success. The HR Manager will be accountable for all aspects of human resources, including staffing, program development, employee relations, legal compliance, payroll and benefits administration, training and leadership development.
This individual will be required to meet business objectives while focusing on teammate involvement and emphasis on implementation and facilitation of new practices and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions
Coach supervisors on corrective actions, company policy, and other HR related matters
Recruit/interview hourly staff; work with temporary agencies, source candidates, recruit assigned salaried positions
Train and develop employees on job skills, best practices, SOP, and the Company vision by coaching and role modeling
HR compliance; insure legal obligations are met; consult with company attorney on serious matters
Enhance teammate skills through new employee orientation, employee training, performance management, leadership development, etc.
Positive employee relations including conflict resolution, investigations, interpreting company policy, updating employee handbook, advising supervisors on employee relations matter, performance management, employee communications, etc.
Process bi-weekly payroll; manage and update the HRIS; maintain employee files and information; respond to employment inquiries, verifications, employee information requests, etc.
Administer benefits including health (HSA), dental, life, LTD, STD and 401k; conduct enrollments, communicate benefit changes, respond to employee questions, work with vendors, etc.
Process worker’s compensation: first reports of injury, on-going claims administration, communicate with supervisors, case managers, carrier, etc.
Develop and recommend retention strategies tied to recognition, training & education and employee relations policies and practices

General Responsibilities
Actively participate in Food Safety and Food Defense related activities.
Maintain confidentiality of company and employee information and data.
Perform additional duties as directed.

Education & Experience
Bachelor degree in Human Resources or related field
3-5 years HR generalist experience
Experience in staffing, compensation, payroll and benefits, employee relations, employee training and development
Experience providing HR support a manufacturing environment preferred

Computer skills including HRIS, spreadsheet skills, payroll, database management, etc.
