Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Human Resources Officer role based in Abuja. The Human Resources Officer will support and implement HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and internal standards. The Human Resources Officer will collaborate with management and staff across the bank to promote a positive, inclusive, and high-performing work culture.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate end to end recruitment: job posting, shortlisting, interview scheduling, reference and background checks, and issuance of offer and regularisation letters.
  2. Maintain accurate employee records and personnel files, both physical and on the HR system, and ensure documentation is complete for internal and external audit.
  3. Prepare monthly payroll input including new hires, exits, promotions, leave and deductions, and reconcile with Finance before processing.
  4. Coordinate the onboarding and confirmation process, including probation reviews and induction for new hires.
  5. Administer the leave calendar and monitor compliance with the bank’s mandatory annual leave policy.
  6. Support the performance management cycle: circulation of appraisal forms, tracking of submissions, collation of scores and preparation of summaries for management.
  7. Coordinate training logistics, maintain the training register, and track ITF reimbursement documentation.
  8. Prepare periodic HR reports and manpower data for management and regulatory returns.
  9. Support employee relations matters, including documentation of queries, disciplinary cases and exit processes.

Requirements

  • First degree in Human Resources, Social Sciences, Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • Four to six years relevant HR experience, preferably in banking or financial services.
  • CIPM student membership or associate level qualification is an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of the Nigerian Labour Act, PENCOM, NHF and PAYE requirements.
  • Strong Excel and HR information system skills.
  • Good written communication, discretion with confidential information, and attention to detail.
