Job Summary:

The Human Resources Specialist supports the HR department in various administrative tasks, including pre-hire processes, onboarding, and daily HR operations. Acting as a key point of contact for employees, this role assists with general HR inquiries, training, employee file management, and maintaining HR systems. The specialist works closely with employees, leadership, and the HR team to ensure seamless and efficient HR operations. As our organization grows, we seek candidates who can work independently, take initiative, and adapt to change. This onsite role is based at our Surgical Hospital in Warren,MI but will support our other locations virtually. Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide first-level support for HR-related inquiries, including policies, benefits, payroll, and procedures; escalate complex questions to senior HR staff as needed.
Respond to daily help desk tickets and employee questions in a timely, professional manner.
Assist hiring managers and candidates with pre-employment processes, including background checks, screenings, and collecting required documentation.
Coordinate and deliver new hire onboarding, including orientation sessions and completion of necessary forms and training.
Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in the HRIS, including new hires, status changes, job updates, and terminations.
Audit personnel files and HRIS data regularly to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Assign and track mandatory and optional training in the Learning Management System (LMS); follow up on incomplete or overdue training.
Prepare and process employment verifications, unemployment claims, garnishments, and other official documentation from government agencies.
Ensure timely and accurate processing of all HR documentation and requests.
Assist with job postings and applicant tracking as needed.
Support employee engagement initiatives, including planning and coordination of events and programs.
Oversee the Circle of Excellence employee recognition program, including nomination tracking and logistics.
Demonstrate a willingness to take on increasingly complex HR tasks and responsibilities as part of professional development.
Understand and follow company policies and HR procedures to ensure consistent and compliant practices.
Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned to support overall HR team goals.

Qualifications:
Previous HR experience is preferred
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field experience preferred
Demonstrates eligibility to work for any employer in the U.S.
Experience within a Hospital and/or Healthcare environment preferred, not required
Proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft 360
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to handle confidential information
Ability to work autonomously and demonstrate initiative in a team environment
Friendly, empathetic, and committed to providing superior customer service
Ability to thrive under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude
