Overview
This position will provide administrative support. Responsibilities will include providing training for staff and maintaining allquality controlchecks on daily CLIA waved laboratory equipment.Communicationwith patients, hospitals, physician offices, pharmacies, insurance companies, and laboratories regarding scheduling appointments and tests, test results, prescriptions, prior authorizations, and information related to patient care is required.
Responsibilities
Communicate and assist with the office manager on clinical staff schedules and routing of patient flow, along withcommunicationof clinical work habits with the office manager and assisting with corrections on behavior or educational errors. Assist in scheduling training for all clinical staff including CPR re-certs, EMR upgrades, and upcoming technologies. Assist withcommunicationerrors within the practice, including patient and provider complaints, and maintain Medical Assistant credentials such as CPR, CMA re-certs, and PPD testing.
Provide administrative support by preparing charts for the clinic, sending/receiving faxes, maintaining and ordering office supplies, delivering and picking up specimens and documents, general maintenance of office machines, scheduling meetings, and related tasks. Screen and follow through on calls to providequality carefor patients, determining which calls require medical licensed intervention and forwarding calls as appropriate.
Train new hire employees and externs for daily Medical Assistant duties such as EMR usage, medical record filing, vital signs, immunizations, injections,quality control, receiving and stocking medical supplies, cleaning exam rooms appropriately, setting up a sterile environment, preparing patients for physicals including pap smears, patient callbacks, reviewing and prepping charts, completing tasks, and documenting any work completed.
Communicate with patients and pharmacies regarding prescriptions and refills for patient medications, checking orders and documenting any actions taken. Complete prior authorizations for medications.
Schedule appointments from written orders at the appropriate doctor’s offices, laboratories, and hospitals. Send appropriate medical documentation and orders, document actions taken, and communicate with patients the dates and directions for scheduled appointments. Follow up to ensure records for ordered tests, appointments, procedures, etc. are received. Request and send records as needed.
Modify and maintain electronic medical records and all databases for patient demographics, patient workups, and statistics on patient visits and related information.
Maintain continuingeducationand required certifications regarding HIPAA compliance, computer systems training, patient information systems, etc.
Direct Patient Care:
Includes taking blood pressure, heart rate, respirations, height, weight, reviewing patient medication lists with patients to determine what they are actually taking, helping patients to and from exam rooms, and preparing patients to be seen by the physician. Any other related tasks requested by the physician, nurses, or clinic manager.
Complete and maintainquality controlon CLIA waved laboratory equipment. Check refrigerator logs for appropriate temperature. Maintain in-office medications with patient logs and appropriately discard any outdated medications or equipment.
