Our client is looking for a proactive and detail-focused Mortgage Broker Assistant / Loan Processor to support the end-to-end loan application process for an Australian mortgage broking business.
This is an opportunity to build an international career without leaving home, working closely with mortgage brokers, lenders, clients and other key stakeholders. You’ll play an important role in ensuring loan applications are accurate, compliant, well-organised and progressed efficiently from initial assessment through to settlement and post-settlement.

What You’ll Be Doing
Mortgage Broking & Credit Support
- Collate applicant documentation and ensure applications are prepared within established timeframes.
- Gather, review, rename and organise supporting loan documents within the designated cloud drive and CRM.
- Ensure documentation meets aggregator, lender and compliance requirements.
- Prepare serviceability calculators by interpreting applicant income, liabilities and financial information.
- Analyse bank statements and living expenses.
- Generate and review credit reports, identifying and escalating areas of concern.
- Identify potentially fraudulent or inconsistent information, such as conflicting addresses or applicant details, and flag concerns to the broker.
- Request lender pricing discounts and assist in negotiating competitive offers using competing lender proposals where appropriate.
- Order property valuations and monitor valuation progress.
- Prepare RP Data searches and property reports.
- Research lender policies and product offerings and prepare product comparison reports.
- Complete data validation and quality assurance checks before lodgement.
Loan Application Preparation & Compliance
- Prepare loan applications for lodgement accurately and within strict deadlines.
- Complete required CRM data entry and identify outstanding compliance requirements.
- Run files through established compliance checklists before submission.
- Prepare and manage lender outstanding requirements to help progress applications toward approval and settlement.
- Maintain accurate file notes and records throughout the loan process.
- Support the full lending lifecycle, including pre-lodgement, lodgement, conditional approval, formal approval, pre-settlement, settlement and post-settlement activities.
- Follow established templates, workflows and procedures to ensure files are processed consistently.
Loan Processing & Lender Follow-Up
- Proactively follow up with lenders for application status updates.
- Monitor valuation progress and follow up where required.
- Keep brokers and relevant stakeholders informed of application progress.
- Coordinate outstanding documents and information between applicants, brokers, lenders and other stakeholders.
- Manage rework requests and additional lender requirements.
- Prepare files for settlement and complete post-settlement activities.
- Collect relevant lender information for existing clients and maintain accurate records and databases.
Existing Client Support
- Assist existing clients with ongoing loan requirements, including repricing, refixing and loan variations.
- Liaise with lenders regarding existing client facilities.
- Respond to client enquiries professionally and promptly.
- Support brokers in maintaining strong relationships with existing clients.
Administration & Broker Support
- Manage email correspondence across individual and shared mailboxes.
- Handle administrative enquiries and, where required, calls from applicants.
- Enter and maintain accurate client and application information within the broker CRM.
- Upload and attach supporting documents to the appropriate CRM records.
- Assist with appointment bookings, calendars and travel arrangements when required.
- Provide occasional marketing, sales and operational support to the wider team.
Process Improvement & Team Support
Depending on your level of experience, you may also:
- Assist with developing and improving process guides and internal systems.
- Contribute to workflow and automation improvement projects.
- Identify opportunities to make loan processing more efficient and consistent.
- Support and train junior Mortgage Broking Assistants and Loan Processors.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience working with an Australian mortgage broker or within Australian mortgage lending is highly regarded, with direct Australian mortgage processing experience preferred for experienced-level positions.
- Ideally, at least one year of end-to-end Australian loan processing experience.
- Previous experience within residential or commercial mortgage lending is preferred, although relevant personal or car loan processing experience may also be considered.
- Experience across one or more of the following functions will be highly regarded:
- Parabroking / Credit Analysis / Sales Support
- Loan Processing
- Settlements & Post-Settlements
- Familiarity with Mercury Nexus CRM and ApplyOnline (AOL) is highly desirable.
- A college or university degree is preferred.
- Strong understanding of Australian lending documentation, processes and compliance requirements.
- Ability to interpret financial information and assess complex loan applications.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, including the ability to work with Australian financial statements.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and web-based processing systems.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Professional and confident phone manner.
- Excellent organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to work to strict deadlines.
- Strong record-keeping habits and the discipline to maintain accurate CRM and file notes.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a remote team environment.
- A proactive mindset with the initiative to identify issues, find solutions and follow tasks through to completion.
