The Role

Category Labs is seeking an Operations Assistant to help manage in-office operations and provide broader support to the Operations team. This role involves cross-functional collaboration and requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to interface with C-suite leaders, Workplace Operations, and departments across the company. We’re looking for a motivated, resourceful individual who thrives in a dynamic start-up environment and can manage multiple work streams with efficiency and poise. This role is based in our NYC office Monday through Friday, during normal business hours

What You Will Do:

As an Operations Assistant, you will be supporting the Operations team as needed in addition to owning your own portfolio of tasks. Specific duties will include, but is not limited to:

Office & Facilities Support – Managing daily office needs, including equipment purchasing, inventory oversight, guest and delivery coordination, troubleshooting facilities issues, and ensuring a clean and organized workspace

Culture & Events – Helping plan and execute internal events (e.g., catered lunches, team off-sites, and social gatherings), and partnering with team leads to enhance employee experience and workplace culture

Team & Administrative Support – As needed, assisting with staff onboarding, supporting general HR and People Ops workflows, providing scheduling support, coordinating travel, and assisting with special projects across teams

Who you are:

0 – 2 years of operational, administrative, or related experience

Reliable, resourceful and self-motivated

Team oriented, collaborative, and an effective communicator

Comfortable navigating a fast-paced and ever-changing environment

Proactive, detail-oriented, and highly organized

A natural host with a service mindset; ready to be a go-to point of contact for all things office- and employee experience-related

Strong time management skills and the ability to independently manage multiple priorities

Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment with limited supervision

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with prior experience managing both internal and external stakeholder expectations

Salary And Benefits

Minimum full-time salary of $100,000 (**This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary; a final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, domain expertise, and geographic location.)
