Part Time Administrator – Paediatric Core Diagnostic Team

We are seeking a part‑time administrator to provide comprehensive support to our Core Diagnostic Team within Paediatrics. You will work alongside our Neurodiversity Clinical Team, primarily supporting Neurodiversity Specialist Nurses and covering for the Neurodiversity Coordinator during absences. You will liaise with children’s families, carers, external partners, educational facilities and primary care. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues are essential.

You will need to be organised and capable of managing your own workload.

Main duties of the job

Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Paediatric Core Diagnostic Team. All secretaries within the Care Group share responsibility for meeting the needs of the Group appropriately.

Assist in achieving departmental objectives and cover for secretarial team members during leave or absence.

Person Specification Experience

  • Experience working with computer systems, including Microsoft Office, in a working or academic environment
  • Experience working in a multi‑disciplinary team
  • Experience in administration in a clinical setting
  • Experience in activities such as answering queries, progress chasing and task‑related problem solving

Skills, Abilities & Knowledge

  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to take and convey clear messages
  • Ability to respond quickly to changing priorities, organising and prioritising own workload to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work under some pressure
  • Judgement when dealing with patient queries and the ability to analyse and resolve patient problems
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to different areas of work
  • Capacity to build and maintain good working relationships within a team
  • Understanding of confidentiality and the requirement for its maintenance
  • Empathy for families and carers facing long waits

Education, Qualifications & Training

  • GCSE level or equivalent, including English at Grade C or above
  • NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or similar relevant qualification
