2. About the Opportunity:
The Patient Care Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting the care team by managing patient information and administrative processes essential to delivering effective healthcare services. This position directly impacts patient experience and operational efficiency by ensuring accurate data, timely communication, and adherence to protocols that support clinical and financial goals.
3. Responsibilities:
• Obtain and update patient information including demographics and insurance details
• Perform insurance verification at the time of service
• Communicate with patients primarily via phone to meet their needs
• Obtain necessary patient signatures and upload identification and insurance documents
• Complete occupational medicine registration workflow accurately
• Maintain and organize medical records
• Handle referral and prior authorization documentation promptly
• Serve as the first point of contact to establish a positive patient experience
• Schedule appointments and procedures adhering to guidelines
• Document patient information in Electronic Health Records (EPIC)
• Inform patients about insurance and referral responsibilities
• Facilitate communication among patients, families, and healthcare professionals
• Notify clinical staff of scheduling changes
• Follow administrative policies to maintain quality care
• Scan and manage documents and faxes efficiently
• Assist in orienting new employees to scheduling processes
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA and OSHA requirements
• Complete assigned clinical competencies and assist with clinical duties as needed
• Perform additional related duties as assigned
4. Requirements:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 1 year experience in a medical office or healthcare setting with relevant administrative duties
• Intermediate computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and multiple web applications
• Access to a quiet, secure workspace at home capable of protecting patient information
• Reliable high-speed internet connection approved by the organization
Preferred:
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Experience with Epic EMR software
Soft Skills:
• Ability to work independently with good judgment and accountability
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:
• The pay range and compensation package for this role will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and other relevant factors.
