An SAP Basis Consultant is responsible for the technical administration, maintenance, and support of SAP landscapes to ensure system stability, performance, and availability across enterprise environments.
Key responsibilities typically include:
- Install, configure, and maintain SAP systems across development, quality, and production environments
- Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting of SAP applications and databases
- Manage client administration, user management, transport management, and system refresh activities
- Execute SAP patching, kernel upgrades, and support package implementations
- Handle backup, restore, and disaster recovery operations for SAP systems
- Coordinate with infrastructure teams for OS, database, and network-related support activities
- Ensure system security, authorization management, and compliance with IT policies
- Support SAP upgrades, migrations, and landscape transformations (e.g., on-prem to cloud)
- Work with databases such as Oracle, HANA, or SQL Server depending on landscape
- Provide incident, problem, and change management support in line with ITIL processes
