Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit an Emergency Department Receptionist to join the Emergency Care Directorate’s Administration Team at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd. This post is a fixed‑term secondment for 12 months until 28/6/2027 due to maternity cover. It is available only to staff currently employed by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. Applicants must obtain permission from their current line manager prior to applying.
Main
Duties
- Provide an efficient front‑line service to the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit within the Emergency Quadrant.
- Deliver a high standard of customer care to patients, relatives and carers while working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive and highly confidential patient information with courtesy and discretion.
The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post.

Qualifications – Essential
- Up to GCSE standard for Maths and English or equivalent experience.
Qualifications – Desirable
- ECDL.
Experience – Essential
- Experience of office and administration.
- Experience of setting up and using filing/IT systems.
- Familiar with WPAS, IFIT, Welsh Clinical Portal and Emis Health.
Experience – Desirable
- Previous NHS experience.
- Experience in managing clinic diaries/appointment schedules.
Skills – Essential
- Willingness to be involved in implementing change.
- IT computer literate.
- Effective communication skills.
Skills – Desirable
- Ability to speak Welsh (Level
3). - Familiarity with GDPR regulations.
Other – Essential
- Team player.
- Work on own initiative.
Other – Desirable
- Ability to motivate others.
- Ability to organise work within the department.
Previous reception/administrative experience and familiarity with the Welsh Patient Administration System (WPAS) and Symphony is desirable but full training will be provided.
Overtime is available.
