The Role

We are looking for a detail-driven, results-oriented Senior Payroll Administrator to oversee the payroll function at our Head Office in Montague Gardens, Cape Town. You’ll manage end-to-end payroll processes, ensure compliance with legal and company requirements, resolve payroll discrepancies, and support both employees and management while supervising the junior payroll administrator.

What You’ll Do

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Process salaries, bonuses, deductions, overtime, and leave.
  • Reconcile time & attendance records and resolve discrepancies in consultation with management.
  • Administer employee benefits (pension & risk), including new hires, terminations, and monthly reconciliations.
  • Ensure statutory compliance with SARS and other regulatory bodies and submit required tax reports on time.
  • Conduct payroll audits, prepare reports, and highlight discrepancies for management attention.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for payroll queries, providing guidance and resolving issues promptly.
  • Maintain and improve payroll systems, documentation, and processes.
  • Supervise, support, and mentor the Junior Payroll Administrator.

What You’ll Need

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • 5+ years’ payroll administration experience (end-to-end).
  • Payroll diploma/degree (essential).
  • Strong knowledge of tax submissions (EMP201, EMP501, IRP5s, ROE, etc.).
  • Experience with employment contracts and HR/payroll practices.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook (intermediate to advanced).
  • Sage Payroll experience – highly advantageous.
  • Excellent numerical accuracy, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of current SARS, Department of Labour, and Home Affairs legislation – advantageous.
