What Success Looks Like In This Job
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a qualified candidate to join the Human Resources Team!
In this role, you will provide support to the employees of the Adams County Sheriff’s Office in all areas of human resources. You will also lead a team of HR professionals, overseeing leave management, HRIS and payroll, employee relations and more.
Examples of Duties for Success:
Supervision: Supervises and provides leadership, direction and coaching to Human Resources staff. Directly supervises employees who are responsible for employee relations, leave management, payroll, HRIS and employee engagement. Assigns tasks and projects to staff; establishes expectations and provides employee performance feedback on an on-going and annual basis; assists subordinates in establishing goals; evaluates accomplishments through frequent check-ins and one on one meetings.
Employee Relations: May conduct standard level investigations concerning alleged employee violations of laws and/or Sheriff’s Office policies. Prepares comprehensive reports summarizing investigations and findings. May make recommendations to Sheriff’s Office command staff regarding performance concerns. Assists in preparing information for unemployment hearings or as requested by Internal Affairs or the County Attorney’s Office. Assists with the development and communication of the personnel related policies within the Sheriff’s Office. Answers general HR related inquiries from employees and command staff (i.e. policy interpretation and coaching).
Compensation: Acts as internal consultant to the Sheriff’s Office on compensation, job classification and determines FLSA exemption for positions and support departments with FLSA questions and compliance. Collects and analyzes wage-related information and surveys for compensation projects. Performs job audits, writes job descriptions, and conducts job analyses to determine placement and pay structures.
Strategic Planning & Policy Development: Collaborates with the HR Director to develop and execute HR strategies aligned with the organization’s goals and objectives. Contributes to the design, implementation, and communication of HR policies and procedures that comply with employment laws and regulations.
HR Metrics and Reporting: Compiles HR data and generates reports on key HR metrics, providing insights to the HR Director and the Executive Leadership Team. Conducts exit interviews, gathers feedback, and analyzes for trends or concerns related to turnover
Training and Organizational Development: Develops strong working knowledge of timecard and payroll related processes. Develops and delivers HR related training and facilitation services. Conducts employee and supervisory training in areas such as recruiting, interviewing, hiring, discipline, performance management, and employment law.
Miscellaneous: Performs special studies and projects as assigned and required. Participates in HR events/projects such as Open Enrollment, Onboarding/Orientation, Wellness Programs, and other HR related activities.
This position receives supervision from the Director of Human Resources.
Qualifications for Success
EXPERIENCE
Minimum four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources field.
Prior supervisory experience, preferably in law enforcement or a public-sector organization preferred
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, public administration, or a related field.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
Valid Colorado Driver’s license
Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence that the candidate possesses the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
