The Superintendent invites qualified and interested candidates to apply for the position of Specialist, Human Resources.

As a part of this plan, the district is in the process of streamlining and transforming the Central Office into a customer service and school support organization focused on ensuring that all schools are well-equipped to provide all of their students with an excellent education.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Ideal candidate will be dynamic and detail-oriented HR professional with a strong background in supporting high volume human resources functions in public education. Proven track record in managing employee onboarding, benefits administration, workers compensation, leave of absence, HRIS data integrity, credentialing compliance, labor relations, and personnel file maintenance. Adept at interpreting union contracts, supporting efforts to ensure alignment with district policies and state education regulations. Collaborative team player committed to fostering a positive work environment and enhancing operational efficiency in support of educators, school staff, and district leadership.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Education, or related field Bachelors preferred
Minimum 2–3 years of experience in HR, preferably in a K–12 or public sector setting
Knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, WC, FLSA, and EEO
Experience with HRIS systems, Microsoft Office Suite (proficient in excel) and able to generate/audit data reports
Advanced proficiency with analyzing, processing and monitoring large data sets
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Benefit administration or equivalent
Extensive experience in Specialist with experience in all facets of HR
Experience with Benefits Solver

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Major responsibilities of the role may include, but are not limited to:

Benefits Administration:

Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in all applicable systems
Maintains accurate data is made accessible to all vendors
Responds to Benefits/Leave/WC inquiries
Assists with new-hire orientations
Performs quality checks of benefits/leave related data
Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes
Distributes all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility
Enrolls employees with carriers and processes life status changes
Handles benefits inquiries regarding plan provisions
Monitors all open enrollment processes
Administers the tuition reimbursement benefit
Provides necessary benefits/leaves reports for allocation/billing charges

HR Information Systems (HRIS) & Leave of Absence Support:

Adheres to leave protocols in processing all leave of absence and disability requests
Timely and effective interpretation of leaves of absences, FMLA, WC, and ADA expectations
Maintains accurate employee records in all applicable leave related systems
Generates reports and analyze data for audits, staffing reviews, and compliance checks
Maintains accurate employee records in the HRIS systems
Process employee changes including transfers, terminations, and status updates
Process payroll benefit and leave related changes in all applicable systems

General HR Operations:Supports annual staffing processes including reappointments, notifications, and others as applicable

May assists with employee verifications and employment letters
Supports special projects, audits, and HR initiatives
Upholds confidentiality and integrity in all matters
Other HR related duties as assigned

Comprehensive Knowledge, Shared Responsibility: Maintain a broad understanding of all HR functions (e.g., benefits, recruitment, employee relations, compliance, training, etc.) while collaborating with subject matter experts. This role supports various HR areas but is not the primary point of contact for every function.
