Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time (22.5 hours a week) experienced Band 6 Staff Counsellor to join our well established Employee Wellbeing Psychological Therapy Service.
The role involves providing specialist brief counselling to Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, UHB staff experiencing mild to moderate psychological distress. Experience in a range of therapy modalities would be beneficial. Our service offers support face to face, as well as online. Experience in offering therapy in these different formats is therefore an advantage, as is a willingness to work from different sites depending on the needs of the service.
You will be joining a friendly and supportive team consisting of Staff Counsellors, Clinical Psychologists admin staff and trainees/students.

Main duties of the job
To be responsible and accountable for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of clients within the Counselling setting. To act in accordance with the BACP Professional Code of Conduct.
To provide a structured counselling service to staff with mild to moderate mental health problems
To manage caseload, all aspects of appointments and waiting list system(s)
Provide an initial assessment including risk assessment and offer appropriate counselling contracts or referral to more appropriate services
To maintain client records appropriately and liaise with relevant professionals
To undertake surveys and audits as required by the Employee Well-Being Service
To work autonomously within professional and Health Board policies and procedures
Offer advice and support to colleagues as appropriate on counselling and mental health issues

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Postgraduate qualification in adult counselling
- To have current membership which should be appropriate for professional practice as a counsellor and requires adherence to a recognised Code of Ethics and Practice e.g. BACP/EKCP/CPC
Desirable criteria
- BACP accreditation/CPC (Counsellors & Psychotherapists in Primary Care) registration/equivalent e.g. UKCP
Experience
Essential criteria
- At least 450 hours of supervised practice accumulated within 3 to 6 years (they do not have to be consecutive years).
- Has worked as a counsellor with clients with range of mild to moderate mental health difficulties
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working as a counsellor in a medical setting/in Primary Care using brief focused counselling
