Title: Static Data Processing – Markets Operations (Night Shift)

Company: OCBC

Location: Greater Kuala Lumpur

Job Summary:

The Static Data Processing staff is responsible for performing accurate and timely creation, maintenance, validation and control of static data required to support Markets Operations processes, including client, counterparty, account, settlement, SSI, product, instrument and reference data set-up across relevant operating platforms.

The role supports day-to-day static data processing across Markets products and operational workflows, ensuring data completeness, accuracy and readiness for trade capture, confirmations, settlements, collateral, reporting, reconciliation and downstream operational processing.

The candidate must be able to work on Singapore public holidays and support London market hours, given the global nature of Markets Operations and the need to meet overseas market cut-offs, client onboarding timelines, trade support deadlines and static data readiness for business continuity.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Daily Static Data Set-Up & Maintenance

  • Process daily static data requests, including creation, amendment and maintenance of client labels, standard settlement instruction, instrument and reference data records.
  • Validate completeness and accuracy of data inputs against approved source documents, system requirements, operational procedures and maker/checker control standards.
  • Monitor static data queues, pending requests, urgent cut-off driven items and rejected records, escalating exceptions promptly to minimise trade, settlement, reporting and operational impact.

2. Data Validation, Quality Checks & Exception Management

  • Perform data validation checks to ensure static data records are complete, accurate, appropriately approved and aligned with upstream instructions and downstream processing requirements.
  • Investigate and resolve static data discrepancies, missing information, rejected requests, duplicate records, incorrect settlement instructions and data quality breaks through to closure.
  • Maintain clear records of data issues, approvals, remediation actions, escalation status and outstanding risk items for audit, management review and operational control purposes.

3. Controls, Risk & Regulatory Discipline

  • Execute static data processes in accordance with operating procedures, approval requirements, risk controls, regulatory obligations and service level agreements.
  • Perform maker/checker controls, source document validation and system input verification to ensure completeness and accuracy of static data processing.
  • Support timely reporting of operational incidents, control breaches, data quality issues and aged outstanding requests.
  • Assist with audit, regulatory, management and internal review requests relating to static data governance and processing controls.
  • Ensure all high-risk data issues are documented, owned, escalated where required and followed through until resolution.

4. Stakeholder & Counterparty Engagement

  • Liaise with key stakeholders including Front Office, Client Services, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Operations and Technology, custodians, agents and external counterparties to obtain, clarify and resolve static data requirements.
  • Communicate clearly on request status, missing information, approval gaps, cut-off constraints and escalations, especially where data readiness is time-sensitive.

5. Shift Coverage & Business Continuity

  • Support London hours coverage to meet overseas market cut-offs, trade support deadlines and continuity of static data processing across time zones.
  • Work on Singapore public holidays where required, particularly when overseas markets remain open and static data set-up or maintenance is required to support trading, settlement, collateral or reporting activities.
  • Participate in contingency arrangements, volume peaks, onboarding deadlines, market events and urgent data remediation activities to support business continuity and operational risk reduction.

6. Process Improvement & Team Support

  • Identify recurring data issues, manual workarounds, control gaps and process inefficiencies, and support remediation, standardisation or automation initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate procedures, request templates, checklists and static data processing documentation.
  • Support cross-training and knowledge sharing within the team to strengthen operational resilience.
  • Contribute to team metrics, data quality dashboards, risk reporting and management updates where required.
  • Demonstrate ownership, accuracy and urgency in all time-critical static data processing activities.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in static data maintenance including client data, settlement instructions or Markets Operations in general within a financial institution.
  • Good understanding of static data controls, client and counterparty set-up, SSI maintenance, reference data governance and operational risk controls.
  • Familiarity with Treasury products such as FX, money markets, securities or derivatives would be an advantage.
  • Able to work London hours and on Singapore public holidays where business needs require global market coverage and time-critical static data processing.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and ability to process high volumes within tight deadlines.
  • Good problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate data discrepancies, rejected requests, incorrect set-ups, missing information and root causes.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with Front Office, Client Services, Product Control, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Settlements, Collateral, Technology, custodians, agents and external counterparties.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with static data systems, workflow tools, operational platforms, reports and data quality checks.
  • Able to remain calm, organised and risk-focused during urgent onboarding requests, market events, cut-off pressure or exception-heavy days.
  • Strong ownership mindset with willingness to follow through on issues until resolution.
  • Team player who is flexible, dependable and comfortable working in a global operations environment.
  • Professional, disciplined and control-conscious, with high standards of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Willing to work on shift: 5pm to 2am – supporting London markets and 12am to 9am – supporting NY markets
