Position Summary
The Training and Education Specialist is responsible for the successful development and delivery of high-quality training, technical support, and education services for all employees.
Main Focus
To ensure employees develop skills that will help them adhere to procedures, gain maximum value and meet organizational needs.
Key Performance Indicators:
Ensure complete development of training programs/manuals for practices performed throughout the organization and available to all agency staff.
All agency staff have appropriate access to technical support, quality training, and needed education services pertinent to their individual roles within the agency.
Develop and maintain appropriate feedback and monitoring processes to validate quality of trainings and education provided.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare, teaching, informatics, or a related field preferred; a combination of education and related work experience demonstrating ability to fulfill the functions of the position may qualify in substitute of degree.
Experience with adult learning theory and teaching adults of various learning levels, strongly preferred
Experience using an Electronic Health Record or similar type platform as a user, trainer, informaticist or analyst preferred.
3-5 years of experience using EMR/EHR software within the healthcare sector preferred.
2-3 years proven experience with Customer Service, Customer Success, Software Training, or training experience and expertise.
Must achieve Electronic Health Record Super User status within 6 months of hire
Must become a CPI training within 9 months of hire
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Incumbent must be able to demonstrate
General knowledge of education/training practices and theories. Knowledge of adult learning styles.
Ability to independently formulate education/training goals and objectives based on the needs of the organization.
Must be patient and able to effectively explain complex technical subject in a clear and interesting way to end users of varying levels of computer skills and technical knowledge.
Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel including senior leadership, providers, employees, and software vendors.
Strong understanding of technical software and computing systems. Full working knowledge of Microsoft Office;
Self-driven, organized, collaborative, dependable, and possessing a project management skillset. Ability to independently plan, prioritize, and schedule activities and services effectively;
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to relate in a positive, respectful manner to staff, clients, and vendors;

Current Driver’s license; clear driving record
Current tuberculosis screening test result
First Aid and CPR certifications and CPI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) certifications must be obtained when offered through the agency; may substitute current MANDT certificate for CPI.

This position requires compliance with MSHS’ compliance standards, including the Code of Conduct, Compliance Program, and policies and procedures. Such compliance will be an element considered as part of the regular performance evaluation.
Develops and maintains position specific Electronic Health Record (EHR) user manuals and quick reference sheets.
Develops and updates as needed position specific preference standards in the EHR, email system and other appropriate systems.
Works in conjunction with HR to obtain, maintain, and validate all training records for staff as required by CARF and HRSA requirements.
Develops end user paced, position specific curricula for new (and advanced) users meeting the needs of the agency.
Helps and supports end users learn EHR and other programs through side-by-side coaching, tutorials, or other individualized effective means. Educates end users on standards and best practices to ensure end users gain maximum value.
Trouble shoots setup errors in EHR and opens ticket with correct vendor or business partner.
Executes training sessions, webinars, workshops etc. in groups or individually as needed.
Participates in EHR, technology, and other related user group and internal calls.
Participates in system upgrades, including planning. Assists end users with learning new features.
Works effectively with vendors, Core Team, SRQIC, and others as determined.
Partners with QA staff to optimize templates
Observes workflows in various departments to identify easily corrected errors or needed modifications and opens a ticket with appropriate vendor.
Effectively manages end user support needs by directing end users to the appropriate solution, i.e. open ticket with IT Vendor, EHR vendor, etc.
