Role Description This is a full-time, role based at BCHOC in Kabusa, Abuja, FCT. Successful applicants will provide high-quality patient care and support across hospital and outpatient clinic services, which may include inpatient monitoring, outpatient consultations, maternity and surgical care support, and assistance with diagnostic and laboratory processes as relevant to the specific vacancy. Team members will collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure accurate documentation, adherence to clinical protocols, and effective communication with patients, families, and caregivers. Daily responsibilities can involve participation in public health promotion activities, vaccination and immunisation programs, and community outreach initiatives. Staff are encouraged to engage in continuous learning, training sessions, and, where applicable, research or research collaboration projects that align with BCHOC’s clinical and community objectives.
1. Cashier/Front Desk Officers — 3 Positions
Key responsibilities:
- Welcome patients and visitors professionally and direct them appropriately.
- Register patients and maintain accurate electronic and manual records.
- Schedule appointments and respond to telephone and WhatsApp enquiries.
- Prepare bills, receive payments and issue receipts.
- Reconcile daily collections and submit accurate financial reports.
- Confirm HMO/NHIA patient details and obtain necessary approvals.
- Maintain confidentiality of patients’ information.
- Work effectively on an assigned shift, including weekends where required.
Requirements:
- OND, HND or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Health Administration or a related field.
- Previous front-desk, cashiering or customer-service experience is desirable.
- Good computer, communication and numerical skills.
- Must be honest, courteous, organised and attentive to detail.
- Hospital experience will be an advantage.
2. Health Promotion Officers — 10 Positions
The role includes field health promotion, community outreach and street campaigns.
Key responsibilities:
- Promote the hospital’s consultations, laboratory, pharmacy, imaging and other services.
- Conduct street campaigns and distribute approved promotional materials.
- Visit homes, estates, schools, churches, mosques, markets, offices and organisations.
- Develop relationships with companies, HMOs, community leaders and referral partners.
- Educate potential patients about the hospital’s services and health programmes.
- Generate leads, follow up prospective clients and convert enquiries into visits.
- Support health outreaches, screening programmes and promotional events.
- Keep accurate records of daily activities, contacts, leads and results.
- Work towards weekly and monthly marketing targets.
- Represent the hospital professionally and provide only approved information.
Requirements:
- Minimum of SSCE; OND, HND or bachelor’s degree is an advantage.
- Previous marketing, sales, community mobilisation or healthcare experience is desirable.
- Strong communication, persuasion and interpersonal skills.
- Must be energetic, confident and comfortable with field and street campaigns.
- Good knowledge of Abuja and its surrounding communities.
- Ability to work independently and achieve measurable targets.
3. Utility and Maintenance Officer — 1 Position
Key responsibilities:
- Inspect and maintain the hospital’s electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems.
- Attend promptly to faults involving lights, sockets, wiring, pipes, pumps, taps and drainage.
- Monitor generators, inverters, batteries, water systems and other utility equipment.
- Carry out basic preventive maintenance on hospital machines and equipment.
- Identify unsafe equipment, isolate it where necessary and report faults immediately.
- Coordinate external technicians for repairs beyond the officer’s competence.
- Maintain records of inspections, repairs, servicing and replacement parts.
- Ensure uninterrupted electricity and water supply as far as practicable.
- Support general facility maintenance and emergency repairs.
- Follow hospital safety, infection-control and equipment-handling procedures.
Requirements:
- Technical certificate, trade test, OND or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services.
- Practical experience in electrical work, plumbing and equipment maintenance.
- Experience in a hospital, hotel or large commercial facility is desirable.
- Must be safety-conscious, dependable and able to respond promptly to emergencies.
- Must not undertake specialised medical-equipment repairs without proper authorisation.
General requirements:
- Applicants must preferably reside in Abuja or within an easily accessible location.
- Good character, punctuality, professionalism and respect for confidentiality are essential.
- Successful candidates may be required to work shifts, weekends or public holidays.
