About The Role
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Administrative Support Specialist to join The Valley Health System team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a variety of administrative and clerical duties to support our healthcare professionals and administrative staff. Your primary focus will be to ensure smooth daily operations by managing schedules, handling correspondence, maintaining records, and providing exceptional customer service to patients and staff alike. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Experience: One to three years of secretarial or administrative experience is required. Healthcare experience is preferred but not mandatory.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases is essential.
License/Certification: No specific licenses or certifications are required for this role.
Other: Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care and service to patients and staff in the assigned department. Ability to adapt to diverse patient needs and maintain confidentiality is essential.
Responsibilities
Desert View Hospital is a 25-bed, acute care hospital set in a rural community. Desert View provides safe and competent nursing care for patients in accordance with facility policies, standards, and philosophy. We provide professional leadership and support to the healthcare team. The concepts of Patient Centered Care will provide the foundation for all nursing care. Demonstrates Service Excellence standards at all times.
As an Administrative Support Specialist, your responsibilities will include managing correspondence, maintaining patient and administrative records, coordinating appointments and meetings, and assisting with billing and documentation processes. You will serve as a liaison between departments, patients, and external vendors, ensuring effective communication and operational efficiency. Your role will also involve preparing reports, handling inquiries, and supporting staff with various administrative tasks to facilitate seamless hospital operations.
In addition, you will ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational policies, maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, and support the implementation of quality improvement initiatives. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will contribute significantly to the overall effectiveness of our healthcare services.
