The Conservation Assistant will support the implementation of the Sarawak Conservation Programme (SCP) Policy Team workplan by providing administrative, technical and logistical assistance to ensure project activities are delivered on time and according to project requirements.
1) Policy and Technical Support
• Assist in conducting background research and compiling information related to policy advocacy, sustainable land use planning, green infrastructure, biodiversity conservation and Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES).
• Support the review and compilation of policy documents,Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), conservation studies, technical reports and other relevant materials.
• Assist in preparing presentation materials, briefing notes, meeting papers and technical documents for internal discussions and stakeholder engagements.
• Compile project information, maintain project records and assist in preparing progress reports and updates.
2) Project Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement
• Assist in organising meetings, workshops, consultations, capacity-building programmes and stakeholder engagement activities with government agencies, local communities, development partners and other relevant stakeholders.
• Coordinate logistical arrangements, including venue bookings, accommodation, transportation, procurement,catering and preparation of workshop materials.
• Support courtesy visits, official meetings and field visits by coordinating schedules, preparing documentation and recording meeting outcomes.
• Follow up on action items arising from meetings and stakeholder engagements to ensure timely implementation of agreed activities.
3) Administrative Support
• Prepare meeting minutes, correspondence, official letters and other project documentation.
• Maintain organised filing systems for project documents, reports, photographs and supporting records.
• Assist with procurement requests, payment documentation and other administrative processes in accordance with WWF-Malaysia's procedures.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor in support of the SCP Policy Team.
Requirements
• Good organisational and coordination skills with attention to detail.
• Good verbal and written communication skills in Englishand Bahasa Malaysia.
• Able to work independently with minimum supervision and manage multiple tasks within deadlines.
• Able to communicate and work effectively with government agencies, local communities and project partners.
• Willing to travel within Sarawak for meetings, workshops and field activities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Experience with GIS, data analysis or policy research is an added advantage.
• Knowledge or interest in conservation policy, spatialgovernance or sustainable development will be an advantage.
Salary Range
RM1,700 – RM2,200
