Council plays an important role in responding to national legislation and policy changes – this mahi is part of our operating environment and is embedded in our everyday mahi. The current proposals from central government are significant, and Council is working through the opportunities and implications. However, our mahi must continue to deliver our three core services for our partners, communities and te taiao (environment).
Kōrero mō te Tūranga | About the Role
You’ll be an organised and customer-focused administrator joining our Customer Support team within the Communications & Engagement Group. This role plays a vital part in ensuring our customers receive timely, professional service while supporting key organisational processes including complaints management, information requests, reporting, and administrative coordination.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Providing administrative support across the Communications & Engagement Group
- Coordinating and processing customer complaints and LGOIMA requests
- Maintaining accurate records and customer information in Council systems
- Supporting reporting and performance monitoring activities
- Delivering exceptional customer service and resolving customer enquiries
- Assisting with travel bookings, documentation, and operational coordination
- Identifying process improvements and supporting business continuity activities

You’ll be an experienced administrator who enjoys helping others and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service. You’re highly organised, confident managing multiple priorities, and comfortable working with systems, processes, and data. You communicate effectively with a wide range of people and remain calm under pressure.
To Be Successful In This Role, You’ll Bring
- Previous administration experience within a complex organisation
- Strong customer service skills and a customer-first mindset
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Confidence using Microsoft Office applications and databases
- The ability to manage confidential information appropriately
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- A proactive approach to process improvement
- Experience within local government would be advantageous
Mātau ā-Wheako | Experience
- Minimum Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience
- Experience providing administrative support in a busy environment
- Experience working in a customer-focused role
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Understanding of legislation or statutory processes would be an advantage
