Work Arrangement:
EMEA Hours 08:00 – 17:00 (UTC +01:00) or Malaysian Hours from 3:00PM – 12:00AM.
You may need to support on-call and out of hours support.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the daily operation and monitoring of enterprise backup and recovery systems.
- Execute defined backup policies, schedules, and retention rules according to established procedures.
- Assist with restore activities for systems and applications, including participation in disaster recovery tests.
- Monitor backup jobs, identify basic errors, and escalate or support incident resolution in coordination with senior team members.
- Assist in routine checks of performance and capacity in backup environments.
- Support upgrades, migrations, and implementation of new backup solutions under guidance from more experienced colleagues.
- Maintain and update basic operational documentation and procedures related to backup and recovery.
- Collaborate with internal customers and application owners under supervision to support their backup and restore requirements.
- Provide out-of-hours and on-call support in exceptional cases, together with or under guidance from senior staff.
Skills and Qualifications
- Initial professional experience (around 1 year) in IT operations or infrastructure administration, ideally with exposure to backup and recovery.
- Basic knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux and/or Windows operating systems.
- Knowledge of enterprise backup and recovery concepts; experience with Rubrik and Versity/ScoutAM is an advantage.
- Basic understanding of backup and restore processes in heterogeneous environments.
- Familiarity with ITIL-based IT service management processes is an advantage.
- Willingness to learn and develop in the area of backup, restore, and automation.
- Good English communication skills, spoken and written; German is an advantage.
Programming & Automation Skills
- Programming or scripting skills (e.g., Python, Ansible) are a plus.
- Interest in automation and modern API-based integration (REST/GraphQL) is an advantage.
