Job Title: Equity and Inclusion Specialist
Work Schedule and/or FTE: 194 days, 8 hours/day
Bargaining Unit: Individual contract
Salary Range: Individual contract, $46,000 – $53,000 per year
Desired Start Date: July 1, 2025
Job Summary:
The Equity and Inclusion Specialist supports students and families in navigating the school system, ensuring equitable access to educational resources and services. This role assists with school registration, transportation, program applications, and other processes that can present barriers to engagement. The Specialist fosters clear, culturally responsive communication among families, students, and staff to promote academic success and social-emotional growth.
Working under the direction of the Equity and Inclusion Coordinator, the Specialist collaborates with school teams to support inclusive practices, facilitate student and family engagement activities, and contribute to professional development efforts focused on equity and cultural responsiveness. The position helps implement district equity initiatives, participates in data-informed planning, and serves as a liaison between families, schools, and community resources to support a welcoming and inclusive learning environment for all students.
This position reports directly to the Equity and Family Engagement Coordinator and indirectly with building and/or program administrators.
The essential functions of this job include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental job duties:
Assist students and families in understanding and navigating the school system, including support with completing school-related documents such as registration forms, immunization records, transportation requests, free and reduced lunch applications, and extracurricular participation paperwork.
Facilitate effective and culturally responsive communication between families, students, and school staff to foster academic success and social-emotional development.
Collaborate with the Equity and Inclusion Coordinator to cultivate an inclusive and positive school environment that promotes educational equity for all students, regardless of race, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, age, national origin, disability, or sexual orientation.
Serve as a bridge between teachers, students, and families to enhance understanding, support, and student outcomes in alignment with the district’s strategic goals.
Participate in cross-departmental collaborations with academic and innovation teams to examine school data and support the development of action plans that advance equity and inclusion.
Design, deliver, and support district-wide professional development initiatives related to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching and learning.
Partner with the Equity and Family Engagement Coordinator to implement system-wide equity strategies that promote inclusive educational practices.
Build and maintain meaningful relationships with families, community organizations, and stakeholders to support post-secondary planning, service-learning opportunities, and connection to community resources.
Participate in training to deepen understanding of school system operations with the goal of identifying areas for equity-focused improvements.
Lead and support student engagement groups and coordinate family involvement events in partnership with building principals and school teams.
Collaborate with student support teams to facilitate student re-entry meetings after extended absences, disciplinary actions, or significant transitions.
Adjust work schedule as needed to accommodate school and community events.
Act as a liaison between the district and families, serving as a consistent and trusted resource for students, parents, and district staff.
Provide input and consultative support to building administrators to guide inclusive practices and inform school improvement efforts.
Partner with other divisions in a collaborative effort to ensure equity practices are addressed and implemented according to district mission.
May assist and/or create and lead training based on the needs of the district.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
B.A. or B.S. in education, behavioral sciences or related field
Experience with various cultural family systems
Experience working with students and families in an equity / cultural role
Ability to inspire and motivate students
Effective communication skills
Ability to influence staff in areas of educational equity, inclusion and relevance
Ability to maintain professional composure while dealing with a variety of personalities, situations, and stress
Ability to utilize technology in learning opportunities
Ability to keep information confidential

Additional Information:
Must be willing to and able to Assist in the following conditions: busy, noisy, with interruptions from staff, students, administrators and/or supervisor.
Ability to perform the following actions occasionally: sitting, using hands dexterously, talking, hearing, lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds, reaching, stooping, walking, standing, bending, crouching.
