Job Description:

Nestled in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, Blue Ridge Community College (BRCC) has been equipping students, alumni, and employees with the knowledge and experience to transform themselves, the community, and the world for over 55 years. The College’s comprehensive program of instruction includes associate degrees and certificates in occupational/technical and college/university transfer programs. Non-credit workforce training and special interest classes for individuals, business, and industry are also offered.

Blue Ridge Community College is searching for a dedicated professional to provide administrative support to the President and 11-member college board and to manage daily operation of the office of the President.

Specific job duties include:

Managing the President’s calendar

Coordinating internal and external meetings, activities, and special events, including commencement

Maintaining management sub-cycles to track deadline and assignment compliance of President’s staff.

Responding to inquiries of state and federal officials, SCHEV, VCCS, national & local officials and organizations, company CEOs, and the general public

Assisting with the annual production and editing of the College Catalog.

Maintaining confidential files

Tracking expenditures and performing procurement duties

Recording/preparing/distributing minutes of various college and board meetings

Minimum Qualifications:

Exceptional interpersonal and written/oral communication skills

Proven ability to work well with people at all levels, in a discreet and professional manner

Flexibility to handle regular interruptions

Ability to work independently, without close supervision

Office administration, clerical and keyboarding skills

Experience using Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn the application of new software and technology

Strong support of the college’s mission

Experience providing outstanding customer service

Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks at one time while utilizing exceptional organizational and time management skills and great attention to detail

Additional Considerations:

Helpful, but not required:

Experience with eVA, Access and/or People Soft

Experience working in higher education

Knowledge of college and/or state programs, policies and operations
