General Notes
This position is typically Monday through Friday; however, some weekend, holiday, evenings and early morning are required at different times of the year. Some travel may be required. This position is not suitable for remote work and regular, on-site hours are required. Human Resources Coordinator or Senior Human Resources Coordinator may be hired based on experience, qualifications and candidate selected for the position.
Purpose
To provide comprehensive Human Resources generalist support in a large and complex, Division I collegiate athletics program.
Responsibilities
Build and maintain positive working relationships with leaders and employees across the organization, serving as a subject matter expert in Human Resources functions. Directly supervise, train and evaluate assigned employees in the Human Resources office. Actively participate in meetings and make recommendations on process improvements for greater efficiency and improved outcomes. Provide excellent service and expertise, accurately respond to inquiries and requests for information, redirecting to the appropriate point-of-contact as necessary.
Provide generalist human resources support and expertise to assigned departments, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with University, NCAA, Conference, State and Federal regulations at all times. Process HRIS documents and employment transactions including, but not limited to, recruiting and hiring, employment classifications, compensation adjustments, onboarding, separations, and related employment actions.
Assist in recruiting a qualified and elite workforce across Texas Athletics, including drafting, proofing and posting job vacancies and advertising, providing guidance and support on hiring requirements, tracking applicants, scheduling and coordinating interviews, travel and related itineraries, etc.
Provide counsel on various employment types and best practices to hiring managers. Provide onboarding services for new employees and hiring managers, ensuring accuracy and relevant processing based on employment type. Appropriately process and handle sensitive personnel paperwork, ensuring confidentiality at all times.
Assist with payroll and time keeping programs and related procedures as assigned, which may include Leave Without Pay, Family Medical Leave and protected leave programs, providing guidance and direction to employees and supervisors. Using high level of accuracy and efficiency, process designated compensation and pay documents and payroll as directed. Run reports on various types of employee data and performs analysis for decision making and tracking.
Assist with providing guidance to employees and supervisors on employee relations concerns in assigned departments.
Coordinate, develop, schedule, implement and facilitate assigned engagement and recognition programs to advance the Texas Athletics Core Values.
Assist with worker’s compensation insurance (WCI) processing, tracking and return to work programs, etc. Process sensitive medical documents and information. Respond to inquiries regarding related processes from employees and supervisors.

Comply with all laws, policies, rules and regulations set forth by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System, The University of Texas at Austin, NCAA, Conference, or other governing body, including state and federal laws. Annually obtain prior written approval and report all outside activities and outside income. Report knowledge of, or reasonable cause to believe, violation(s) of state or federal laws, policies, rules, or regulations of the University, Conference, or NCAA to IA ARMCS or IA HR. Fully cooperate with any investigation by providing complete and accurate information when requested to do so by Texas Athletics and/or the NCAA and do not influence others in any way during an investigation. In compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and Texas Education Code Sec. 51.252, this position may be a Non-Confidential Employee as defined by University policies on Sex Discrimination, Sexual Harassment, Sexual Assault, Interpersonal Violence and Stalking. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree. Minimum of 1 year of experience working in Human Resources.. Excellent technical skills using human resource information systems, Microsoft Office PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Excel. Experience in recruiting and screening applicants, including conduction interviews and reference checks. Experience providing Human Resources support for a large, complex employee population. Professional demeanor. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Human Resources certification. 5 years of experience working in Human Resources. Experience providing HR generalist support to a large, complex organization. Experience working in Human Resources in a University and/or Collegiate Athletics setting. Experience in a fast-paced HR office serving a broad variety of employee types. Experience working in Smartsheets, Adobe, Cornerstone LMS and Workday.
Driving Required
This job requires a class “C” operator’s driver’s license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver’s license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).
Salary Range
$50,000 + depending on qualifications
Working Conditions
May work around standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Use of manual dexterity.
