Full Job Description

The City of Franklin has an exciting career opportunity for an experienced, customer-focused Income Tax Administrator to lead the City’s income tax operations. This is a full-time position reporting to the Finance Director and supervising the Income Tax Clerks.

Key Responsibilities:

Administer the full cycle of municipal income tax collection for individuals and businesses.

Interpret and enforce the City’s income tax ordinances; respond to inquiries and assist with tax preparation.

Supervise tax staff and oversee daily operations of the Tax Department.

Investigate and resolve delinquent accounts, including legal actions when necessary.

Prepare reconciliations, process refunds, and ensure compliance with applicable laws.

Maintain confidential tax records and deliver exceptional customer service to residents and businesses.

What We’re Looking For:

Associate’s degree in business or finance, OR at least 3 years of experience in tax payments/collections.

Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal income tax codes.

Excellent judgment, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Proven experience in supervision and administrative duties.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, and business software systems.

Must be bondable.

Preferred Skills:

Familiarity with the Ohio Revised Code as it pertains to municipal taxation.

Experience working in a public sector or governmental finance setting.

Ability to manage confidential information with integrity and discretion.

Physical & Technical Requirements:

Ability to perform light physical tasks (e.g., using office equipment, walking, standing).

Proficient in using email, word processing, spreadsheets, and tax software.

Able to handle stressful situations and meet production demands.

Compensation & Benefits: Annual Salary: $60,706 – $72,189. The City of Franklin covers the full 10% pension contribution — both the employee and employer portions — resulting in no pension deduction from your paycheck. We also offer a competitive benefits package including health, dental, optical and life insurance, and generous paid time off.
