As part of your portfolio as Manager: Database Administration (DBA), you will be responsible to.:
- Ensure the availability, integrity, performance and resilience of the OceanBase databases that underpin MIDAS core wallet services on the A+ (Alipay) platform after go-live.
- Operate within the Infrastructure, Operations and Security function, providing hands-on database administration, incident and problem resolution, performance tuning, backup and recovery, high-availability management and proactive monitoring for business-critical wallet services running on OceanBase.
- Participate in the design and development of database operations tooling and automation covering backup and recovery, capacity planning, resource utilisation, performance monitoring, alerting, health checks and routine DBA task automation for the OceanBase estate.
- Refine data-led database operations by analysing availability indicators, slow queries, historical incidents, resource utilisation, replication lag, capacity trends and operational risk patterns, and converts these insights into practical database reliability and performance-tuning initiatives.
- Capturing database operational best practices, providing input into data architecture, schema and capacity design, and producing clear technical documentation, runbooks and knowledge artefacts that improve database supportability and operational readiness.
This is a Manager-level individual contributor role requiring deep database troubleshooting capability, strong OceanBase and SQL expertise, solid Linux and networking fundamentals, scripting skills, disciplined execution and the ability to communicate effectively under pressure in a multinational, partner-led fintech environment.
The incumbent must have the following:
- Minimum 4-year tertiary degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems or related field.
- Minimum 5-8 years’ experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) supporting business-critical production databases, ideally including distributed or MySQL / Oracle-compatible databases.
- Experience supporting high-volume production databases in payments, banking, fintech, telecoms or large-scale internet platforms.
- Hands-on experience with OceanBase, or a strong MySQL / Oracle background with willingness to cross-skill to OceanBase, including installation, configuration, tuning and troubleshooting.
- Strong SQL and PL/SQL skills and experience with at least one scripting language such as Shell, Python or equivalent to build tools that improve operational efficiency.
- Experience in backup and recovery, high availability, replication, performance tuning, capacity planning, incident analysis and disaster recovery.
- Experience working in multinational, cross-border or partner-led delivery environments.
- Good English communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively under pressure.
What will give an edge to your application:
- Certification or training in database administration, OceanBase, MySQL, Oracle, Linux, ITIL or platform operations.
- Certifications such as OceanBase (OBCA / OBCP), Oracle OCP, MySQL, Alibaba Cloud (ACP / ACE), Linux or ITIL.
- Experience with the Alipay A+ stack, Alibaba Cloud, OceanBase Cloud Platform (OCP) / OMS, containers or cloud-native databases.
