Responsibilities:
- Originate ideas for how MPL MY franchise teams can grow and deepen their fan bases by bringing concrete, ready-to-discuss proposals to teams, not just respond to their requests
- Work directly and credibly with partnership teams to bring fan-growth ideas to life, building the kind of relationship where teams want your input
- Lead and develop a small community/fan-engagement team: set direction, coach for quality, and hold the function accountable for outcomes delivered through others
- Identify and shape opportunities to strengthen the MPL MY ecosystem through team-level fan growth — propose league programmes (e.g. fan club frameworks, team incentive schemes, fan engagement initiatives) that benefit teams and the league together.
- Track team-level fan growth and community health, and feed insights back into league strategy and planning
- Collaborate with internal content, marketing, and operations teams to align team-fan initiatives with the league's broader season narrative and activations
- Act as a connector between the league and its teams where useful by translating league objectives into things teams will want to do, and surfacing team needs the league can act on.
- Take ownership of requests and issues raised between teams and the league when they touch your community/fan-growth remit, ensuring they're understood by both sides and resolved.
- Where relevant, support team-facing operational touchpoints like manager meetings, hospitality, season planning – building working knowledge of league/team operations over time so your community ideas land inside how the league actually runs.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a community manager or in community-building roles, with concrete examples of communities, fan bases, or audiences you grew — and the original ideas behind that growth (not just content calendars or campaigns you executed for someone else)
- Experience managing a team or function — comfortable setting direction, coaching others, and being accountable for results delivered through people, not just personal output
- A strong communicator and relationship-builder who earns trust quickly — able to work credibly with team management and translate between a league's goals and a team's interests
- Ability to think at both the team level (what should this specific team do to grow its fans) and the ecosystem level (what would make the wider community stronger as a whole)
- Highly proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia, with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated use of AI tools in your day-to-day work and be ready to show us what you've used and what it produced.
- Genuine interest in and understanding of esports and gaming; familiarity with the MLBB/MPL ecosystem is a plus but not required
