Job Summary & Responsibilities

Our client is seeking a Senior Lead Data Scientist to join the Analytics team. The candidate will demonstrate a successful track record of achieving business insight and optimization through the use of data mining and machine learning techniques

The Analytics Engineer will be comfortable working across the full spectrum of data science related disciplines spanning quantitative research, data acquisition, and solution engineering. The Analytics Engineer will work as part of an interdisciplinary Agile team closely aligned with Scholastic business units to develop and deploy predictive and prescriptive analytical solutions. The Analytics Engineer will train and mentor junior data scientists in other teams, and work closely with peers and management to strengthen analytic competency across the enterprise

The ideal candidate will be distinguished not only by his or her mastery of quantitative methods and data engineering, but also by high levels of creativity and tenacity

Key Responsibilities include

Research, develop and implement new methods of measuring and analyzing data sets and processes

Discovering stories told by data and presenting them to the business through rich visualizations

Work on formulation, implementation, testing and validation of predictive models

Participating in a full development cycle from product inception, research and prototyping to release into production

Qualifications & Requirements

Master’s Degree in Math, Statistics, Computer Science or other quantitative discipline

The ability to summarize analytical results and to efficiently communicate insights

Develop best practices for instrumentation and experimentation

Experience with high-volume, highly dimensional data from multiple sources

Expert knowledge of a wide array of data science algorithms

Experience mentoring junior data scientists

Preferred Educations, Skills and Experience

Ph.D. in Math, Statistics, Computer Science or other quantitative discipline

Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Amazon Redshift

Experience with Tableau and Microsoft Analysis Services

Experience with NoSQL data stores and MapReduce implementations

Experience with Publishing or Media companies

Experience working in Agile teams (Scrum, Kanban)
