Role Description The System Administrator is a full-time, on-site role based in Colombo, responsible for maintaining and supporting the bank’s IT infrastructure. This role involves installing, configuring, and monitoring servers, operating systems, and applications, as well as ensuring system security, stability, and performance. The System Administrator will manage user accounts and permissions, perform regular backups and recovery procedures, and apply patches and updates in line with security and compliance requirements. Day-to-day tasks include diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues, providing technical support to internal teams, and coordinating with vendors and other IT functions when needed. The role also includes documenting configurations and procedures, contributing to IT process improvements, and supporting projects related to infrastructure upgrades and digital banking initiatives.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in System Administration and Information Technology, including managing servers, operating systems, and core banking-related infrastructure.
- Candidates should possess solid Troubleshooting and Technical Support skills to diagnose issues, resolve incidents, and assist users effectively.
- Candidates should possess Network Administration skills to manage switches, routers, firewalls, and ensure secure, reliable connectivity.
- Candidates should possess a good understanding of IT security principles, backup and recovery practices, and system monitoring tools.
- Relevant academic qualifications such as a degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field are preferred.
- Professional certifications (e.g., Microsoft, Linux, Cisco) and experience in banking or financial services environments will be an advantage.
- Ability to work collaboratively, communicate clearly, and manage tasks in a regulated, high-availability environment is essential.
